Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the 0-19 Service at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust as a 0-19 Lead for Education and Development.

The post holder will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. They will share the Trust values and be committed to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The post holder will be a key member of the 0-19 Service, who provides Community Public Health delivery and guidance on NMC standards of Education through the Healthy Child Programme, and Public Health Promotion. The post holder will be part of a Locality Teams who will effectively support the delivery of the above to ensure that the children and young people in Sheffield reach their full potential.

Work with the Team Leaders and service manager(s) to identify learning needs of the service and workforce development. Review the wider work force plan to ensure families, children and young people have the provision of enhanced health intervention and care packages based on identified needs.

Provide supervision to the Specialist community public health students and ensure a safe learning environment for all students aligned with the NHS learning charter. Provide wider learning opportunities to the 0-19 team members and support evidence-based practice.

Support the implementation of team learning and clinical supervision to the 0-19 Team members through various methods.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the 0-19 Service Manager(s) and the 0-19 team members to identify learning needs and workforce development. Ensuring that our workforce is equipped to successfully deliver the healthy child programme.

Analyse data, trends, and research to anticipate potential skills development needed and work to integrate training into departmental plans.

Responsible for the recruitment and management of the Specialist Community Public Health students in accordance with the NMC standards of Education.

Responsible to ensuring quality placements for pre- registration students, Trainee Nurse Associates and post grad students as per NHS England safe learning environment charter.

Participating in development and delivery of packages of care and pathways relevant to the area and support training and implementation of packages of care by others in the team.

Job responsibilities

Lead the delivery of the workforce development plan for the service. This includes looking ahead to determine what skills and knowledge the workforce needs to meet future service demands. Organise and coordinate essential training and professional development activities.

Contribute to workforce planning initiatives for the department, analysing data and trends such as staff surveys, workforce data and retention data. Propose changes to senior management based on local and national health & education requirements.

Work with academic institutions to provide quality learning opportunities, aligning with course and workforce requirements.

  • Create a suitable learning environment to develop a culture of learning amongst colleagues.

    Research and identify best practices for embedding into services. Develop and implement training and education strategies. Liaise with education providers and the Education, Learning and Organisational Development Department.

    • Develop and implement research, audit and service evaluation programmes, providing data and reports to senior managers, and collaborating with partners to address learning needs and contribute to policy development.
    • Work closely with other education stakeholders at SCNHSFT, sharing good practice and developing policy and procedures. Engage in national and international events to stay updated and share best practices, addressing national education issues and implementing changes.
    • Manage records and clearly document all care plans, case reviews and outcomes to reflect casework with children and families.
    • Will require flexibility in managing a clinical and specialist role
