The Medicine Management Team at NEMS is looking for a qualified Pharmacy Technician to join
the team on a part time basis.

Main duties of the job
This role is non-patient facing and it entails leadership responsibility to drive improvements to maximise safe and cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout NEMS Clinical Teams.

Main duties of the role
The
candidate will take leadership on ensuring that choice of medicine and pharmacy
consumables is environmentally friendly (where appropriate), undertake
quarterly pharmaceutical waste audit, educate staff and lead on the Green
Agenda in relation to medicine optimisation at NEMS.

Stock
management: ensuring that stock is received, checked and labelled (if
required) in an efficient manner and reporting any issues immediately that
would delay the availability of specific products (applicable to all NEMS
sites).
- Medicines
shortage and recalls monitoring situation on the pharmaceutical market (MHRA,
CAS alerts) and providing contingency plans for NEMS services.
- Supporting
NEMS Medicine Management team in developing and shaping teams strategy.
- Assisting in delivering the day-to-day
management of medicines procurement within a framework of legal, professional,
and NEMS financial policies and procedures.
- Documenting and demonstrating achievements made
in containing medicines expenditure through efficient procurement and stock
control.
- Assisting in the implementation, review and
update of policies and procedures of
new medicines management processes to ensure that they are safe and effective.
- Supporting
the Lead Clinical Pharmacist in ensuring that individuals responsible for
medicines management on a daily basis are working to guidelines and as per best
practice.
- Complying with the MHRA regulations, the NEMS
Policy on Unlicensed Medicines and the department SOPs relating to unlicensed
medicines.
- Assisting in the risk assessment of unlicensed
medicines and maintain paperwork in accordance with SOPs.
- Dealing with any complaints resulting from
supply shortages, referring to Lead Clinical Pharmacist if necessary.
- Ensuring the presentation and labelling
medication complies with departmental, statutory and professional requirements.
- Informing member of the Medicine Management Team
about issues regarding safe and accurate dispensing, ensuring dispensing errors
/ incidents are documented.
- To
communicate effectively in a timely manner to all appropriate personnel and
leave effective handover information for other NEMS staff, where appropriate.
- Support
medicines management training to clinical and non-clinical staff and helps in developing
training resources.
- Providing support and training for
implementation of new policies/procedures.
- Ensure
that NEMS have safe and effective controlled drugs procedures in place.
- Support
in medicines management data collection and data analysis, formulary adherence,
cost-effectiveness, safety audits, and other quality audits such as
