Job summary
NEMS have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse to join the team as a First Assessment Practitioner!
The First Assessment Practitioner is a key member of the team and is responsible primarily for the assessment of a patients safety to wait, red flag identification, queue priority and escalation.
We are looking for those interested in a 16 to 37.5 hr weekly contract.
The majority of shifts will be during evenings, overnights, and weekends. Our practitioners work a mixture of times and two weekends a month.
Standard shifts include:

Main duties of the job
- The First Assessment Practitioners work with NEMS at QMC as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide high standard of patient care.
- The post holder works with the support and supervision of a senior clinician and in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
- The First Assessment Practitioner is a key member of the team and is responsible primarily for the assessment of a patients safety to wait, red flag identification, queue priority and escalation.
- The practitioner is responsible for performing specific duties including but not limited to: focused history taking, vital observations and equipment and process checks.
- We expect all our clinicians to have a flexible approach to shift patterns and service needs which may involve working in different areas or cross site working.
- This role presents the opportunity to develop into other NEMS trainee and educational programmes which will harness your experience and knowledge gained in an urgent primary care setting.
