Job summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Weight Management Coach specialising in Children, Young People (CYP), Families, and Adults to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. This role is pivotal in delivering a community-based, holistic weight management service designed to tackle obesity and support healthier lifestyles across Liverpool's neighbourhoods.

The service you will be part of aims to reduce obesity and improve health outcomes across Liverpool, focusing on both nutritional and physical activity interventions.

In your role as a specialist in both CYP/families and adults, you will design and deliver tailored weight management interventions, which include nutritional guidance, physical activity, and emotional wellbeing support.

You will be responsible for overseeing their performance, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and empowering a collaborative team environment. In addition to direct coaching and client engagement, you will lead the development of your team, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to enhance their skills and ensure that service standards are consistently met.

This role will need to have the ability to travel independently within the Liverpool area and so you will need to be able to drive and own a car as the role involves work in various community settings. You will also be required to travel to the Wirral office from time to time for training and team meetings.

Salary Range: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver Tier 2 weight management services for adults and pregnant women, focusing on weight loss, maintenance, and prevention of weight re-gain through nutritional and physical activity interventions.
  • Provide specialised support to pregnant women, including promoting healthy weight management during pregnancy and offering postnatal advice on weight loss, nutrition, and weaning for early years.
  • Lead Tier 2 interventions for children, young people, and families, supporting them in achieving sustainable weight loss and healthier lifestyle behaviours.
  • Tailor programmes to meet the unique needs of children and families, ensuring inclusivity and considering factors such as age, cultural background, gender, and disabilities.
  • Utilise a person-centred approach that incorporates both the emotional and behavioural aspects of weight management, ensuring clients understand the relationship between emotions and food, and receive appropriate tools and referrals for emotional support.
  • You will line manage a team of Weight Management Coaches delivering specialised coaching across the service, overseeing their performance, ensuring high standards of service delivery, and providing support, supervision, and mentoring.
  • Lead regular performance appraisals, one-to-one meetings, and team meetings to drive a collaborative and high-performing team.

Line Management of Weight Management Coaches:

  • Line manages a team of Weight Management Coaches, overseeing their performance and ensuring that high standards of service delivery are maintained across all pathways.
  • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance appraisals, and supervision sessions with team members, providing coaching, mentorship, and support as needed.
  • Lead team meetings, ensure continuous professional development opportunities are available, and empower a culture of collaboration and shared learning.

  • Ensure appropriate records are kept for all contacts with the service via the service CRM called Best-You.
  • Support clients who fail in their attempt to re-engage with the service and make subsequent attempts.
  • Seek out opportunities to develop and implement Healthy Weight Management Services in a range of health and community settings.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Deliver high levels of customer service and coaching support, both individually and in group settings, ensuring interventions are accessible and client centred.
