Specialist Weight Management Dietitian

Part-time 30 hours Salary £36,000 - £40,000 pro rata for part time

Remote Hybrid Cambridgeshire

Accountable to Service Manager Adult Weight Manager, Tier 3.

MAIN PURPOSE Everyone Health is seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian to join our Tier 3 weight management team to provide a Tier 3 weight management obesity service for patients in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.The successful candidate will join our Tier 3 team Nutritionist, Nurse prescriber, Health Psychologist and Physical Activity Specialist and be responsible for the nutrition and dietetic management of Tier 3 patients with complex obesity and associated comorbidities. You will be responsible for managing a caseload and delivery of virtual group sessions to patients. You will carry out and one-to-one initial assessment and follow up sessions. You will also be supporting patients on low calorie diets and those using weight loss pharmacotherapy.You will be working from home but may be required to attend face to face meetings or clinics periodically, so will need to hold a full driving license and have access to a car.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

To lead in the provision of a specialist dietetic service within the multidisciplinary team

To be responsible for the provision of the dietetic input into multidisciplinary patient clinics and groups.

To provide expert dietetic input and advice to support patients to lose weight

To communicate, liaise with and refer to other services related to patient management

To be responsible for ensuring that all necessary data is collected and inputted to ensure that we can collect the comprehensive clinical outcome data required to allow for robust evaluation of this service.

To ensure that patients and carers have consented prior to dietetic intervention in line with professional guidelines

To provide specialist Dietetic advice and resources to support the pharmacological pathway.

To support the multi-disciplinary team in clinical decision making.

To provide line management and professional development support for the team Nutritionist and Physical Activity Specialist.

To devise, monitor and review nutritional care plans against outcome measures and adjust care plans to enable patients to achieve their goals.

To ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients and referral or signposting to other services including Tier 4 services to support their weight loss maintenance

To maintain continuing professional development and continuously meet the requirements of HCPC registration.

To participate in the development, implementation and update of operational and professional standards and policies

To contribute to operational and strategic planning for the service

To initiate and participate in research and audit within your area of specialism

To ensure that all records of patient contacts follow Everyone Healths standards and protocols and to use SystmOne and other relevant systems to ensure rigorous data collection processes.

To manage feedback and complaints in line with Everyone Health policies and procedures.

To comply with professional codes of practice, professional guidelines and department policies

To comply with information governance requirements including confidentiality, GDPR and data protection.

To undertake all mandatory training required by Everyone Health

PERSON SPECIFICATION 1. SKILLS ABILITIES

Ability to direct and co-ordinate programmes of care working autonomously and collaboratively.

Ability to manage own caseload of patients.

Ability to produce detailed, accurate and evidence-informed patient nutrition care plans.

Ability to translate complex nutritional information into a format that is appropriate and understandable for patients to support compliance with healthy eating intervention and advice.

A commitment to continuous service improvement with expert insight into patients needs, so that all patients receive high quality care.

Passionate about putting patients first and delivering a high-quality service.

Proven ability to relate, motivate and confidently engage individuals in activities and discussion as part of a group and in a 1to1 situation.

Experience

Essential

• Minimum of 2 years experience including experience working in adult tier 2 and 3 weight management
• Experience of working with adults and in a one-to-one and group environment, to support positive lifestyle change.
• Experience of delivering high quality patient nutritional support through 1-2-1 and group settings.
• Experience of devising and leading treatment programmes.
• Experience of working effectively as part of a MDT team.
• Experience of working with patients of different cultures, genders and ages.
• Experience of working to tight time schedules and managing a busy case load effectively.
• Evidence of experience in embracing and implementing change to provide high quality health outcomes.
• Experience of working to challenging performance targets and achieving excellent outcomes

Desirable

• Sound knowledge of the complex care of the obese and morbidly obese patient.
• Knowledge of specific nutrition requirements for delivering specialist weight management programmes for adults
• Up to date knowledge of weight management pharmacotherapy and Dietetic support for patients using this medication.
• Specialist knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within speciality
• Knowledge of behavioural and emotional issues related to weight management.
• Knowledge of stigma associated with obesity and effects on social and emotional well-being.
• Knowledge of weight management, nutrition and physical activity in relation to health improvement.
• Knowledge of psychological and behaviour change theoretical techniques in relation to supporting people to make positive lifestyle changes.
• Knowledge of NICE guidance relating to the treatment of obesity, including pharmacotherapy and bariatric surgery.
• Knowledge and understanding of current GDPR regulations, the Patient Confidentiality Act and the Data Protection Act.
• Sound knowledge of clinical governance.

Qualifications

Essential

• BSc or postgraduate degree in Dietetics or equivalent
• Registered with HCPC and British Dietetic Association
• Broad range of post-registration experience including weight management
