An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished and highly motivated Manager to join our established GP practice.
The key role of the practice manager will be to lead and manage with the partners at DMC to ensure the practice meets its agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe, and effective working environment, and to ensure the provision of high-quality patient care has been delivered.
Main duties of the job
The practice manager will embed a culture of openness, transparency, and trust throughout the entire practice team.
The practice manager will lead the team through any change needed in the provision of changing patient care via the practice, and as part of the wider NHS via the practice network.

Job responsibilities
Core functions, but not limited to:
The practice manager will:
- Keep abreast of current affairs and identify potential threats and opportunities
- Develop with the partnership and lead on the practice strategy; formulate objectives and researchand develop ideas for future practice development
- Develop with the partnership a practice business plan to ensure the business meets its aims andobjective
- Ensure the plan is implemented and manage any change required
- Ensure compliance and governance are in line with CQC requirements and regulations
- Provide leadership and management to enable the practice to meet its agreed aims and objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate performance of the practice team against objectives; Identify areas for, andmanage change needed.
- Develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant externalagencies
- Work collaboratively with the practice team to ensure the efficient running of the practice.
- Work professionally, flexibly with a practical approach, which is essential in the NHS current climateof change.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements are met
- Represent and lead the practice forward, and maintain good working relationships with all relevantoutside agencies and professional bodies
- Lead the practice to ensure that efficiencies are maximised across the business
- Work with an established network of practices looking to further progress with the Primary Care Network DES
Human Resources
The post holder to oversee with the support of the GP/Partners and HR Manager all HR activities within the practice, to include:
- Oversee the recruitment and retention of practice staff
- Ensure that all members of staff are legally and gainfully employed.
- Monitor skill-mix and deployment of staff
- Manage staffing levels within target budgets
- Ensure that staff are evaluated, organised, and overseen during staff induction and training
- Ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role
- Ensure that all staff are monitored and managed for sickness
- Implement effective staff appraisal and monitoring systems
- Support and mentor staff, both as individuals and as team members
- Implement effective systems for the resolution of disputes and grievances
- Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation with the support of the HR Manager
- Co-ordinate leave requests of the practice team
Finance
- Work closely with the Finance Lead / GP / Partners / executive team
Organisational
The post holder to ensure that the organisation is run effectively, to include:
- Lead in the development of robust clinical and non-clinical meetings to ensure clear communicationchannels for all relevant staff
- Develop practice protocols and procedures, review and update as required
- Ensure that practice premises are properly maintained, risk assessed and cleaned frequently and asrequired
- Ensure that the practice premises have adequate fire prevention measures and that security systemsare in place and in working order
- Develop and review Health & Safety policies and procedures and keep abreast of current legislation
- Ensure that the practice has adequate disaster recovery procedures in the form of a BusinessContinuity Plan in place
- Arrange appropriate maintenance for practice equipment
- Lead on the development of CQC policies and monitor when due for review and republishing
- Undertake risk assessments and undertake activities in a way that manages those risks.
- Adopt a strategic approach to the development and management of patient services
- Ensure service development and delivery is in accordance with local and national guidelines
- Ensure that the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations in relation to patient care, withsupport from GP/Partners
- Ensure that all incidents and significant events are appropriately managed and executed.

- Monitor and enhance repeat prescribing systems working towards electronic prescribing and repeatdispensing

Information management and Technology
The post holder to ensure that the practice implements and maintains the IT systems needed to run the practice effectively, to include:
- Keep abreast of the latest development in primary care IT and regularly update the practice management team
- Motivate, support, and monitor staff in use of IT
- Ensure that the practice is compliant with all IT and GDPR requirements
- Ensure that the practice has effective IT data security, back-up, maintenance, and disaster recoveryplans in place for all IT systems in use
- Oversee the maintenance of the practices website

The post holder to ensure that confidentiality is maintained, to include:
- Ensure that all staff are aware that while seeking treatment, patients entrust the practice with, orallow the practice to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
