Specialist Dermatology Lead Nurse

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible by using their specialist knowledge, skills and experience in providing Dermatology care to undifferentiated patients attending the Dermatology and clinical staff management. They recruit and train new staff and provide ongoing support and performance management to the members of their team. They liaise with other Managers to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and work with patients to ensure that they have comprehensive care that meet their individual needs.

They will inform the strategic direction of the Dermatology Pathway regarding the continued development of Dermatology care. They will coordinate effective communication across the multi professional team, between departments and the community. They will provide specialist education and development for nursing staff and colleagues through education programmes, individual development programmes and clinical supervision. They will directly support the nursing team and clinicians to complete competency-based training programmes appropriate to their level.

They will promote excellence in nursing practice through the integration of expert clinical practice, education, consultancy, acting as a resource, developing practice and commitment to research and audit.

They will report to Senior Managers, providing data to help them plan and ensuring that there are adequate resources in place to meet demand. They also act as the first point of escalation for complaints and feedback.

Carrying out regional visits to DMC clinics to observe and supervise Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses.

Ensuring that all patient data is entered, stored, and retrieved according to internal policies and relevant legislation.

Collecting, collating, and analysing patient feedback.

Supervising a team comprising Nurses, Health Care Assistants, and other clinicians

Reviewing and revising policies to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice guidelines

Provide clinical advice to support staff and clinicians where required.

Ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care, delivered in a timely manner.
