We are looking for an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to become our Principal Psychologist (Clinical/Counselling/Forensic). In this role you will develop our service and psychosocial interventions offer.
We want all of our services to be Psychologically Informed. We support people experiencing difficulties associated with a range of challenges, most frequently including drug and alcohol use. We want to focus our Psychology resources to support equity and assure quality and delivery of evidence-based interventions as outlined in Drug Misuse and Dependence: UK Guidelines on Clinical Management 2017.

Main duties of the job

intelligent and committed leaders to work with us to develop our services, our psychologically informed
approach and our psychosocial interventions offer.
You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams and your focus will be the excellent delivery of recommended specialised interventions. These form the primary Job Plan for all Psychology positions, contributing to supporting recovery and are detailed within our Job Descriptions.
This is a very exciting time for the organisation and Psychology within it, we will need you to see the bigger picture and support us to adapt the recommended models to meet peoples needs. For you to bring your very best to this role you will need to be open-minded and willing to lead Psychology and Psychological Therapies to develop in this way.
You will be joining a brilliant national team of Psychologists and qualified counsellors; we also have a range of highly committed and passionate staff who deliver psychosocial interventions whether on a 1-1 basis or in groups. Contingency management initiatives in local services, aligned to evidence-based practice.
Social Behaviour Network Therapy - SBNT interventions embedded within the available range of psychosocial Interventions.
Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy - CBT and motivational enhancement techniques, engaging in direct delivery of these interventions i.e. Assessing and then offering 6 sessions of CBT on cycle to people for whom this is indicated.
Behavioural Couples Therapy BCT and trauma-focused interventions for co-occurring disorders. i.e. Assessing and then offering 6 sessions on cycle to people for whom this is indicated.
Support the implementation of localised approaches using Motivational Interviewing - MI, providing appropriate support and supervision to practitioners and connecting to associated national teams
Explore and implement localised third-wave CBT approaches, including acceptance and commitment therapy - ACT and mindfulness-based relapse prevention.
Support localised trauma-informed care approaches, embedding associated practice within the local team
Develop and establish mechanisms to measure outcomes, undertake fidelity checks, and evaluate the effectiveness of the above interventions.
Develop and establish mechanisms to support equity of access to the above specialised interventions.
Clinical Supervision -
Offer formal group clinical supervision to service staff on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.
Support broader staff teams in adopting psychologically informed practices.
Support the development of quality benchmarks for continuous professional development strategies. Collaboration within MDT-
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care and holistic support.
Participate in regular communication and case review meetings to adjust treatment approaches.
Support emergent OMD MDT development.

The role may work in Change Grow Live services and alongside the range of services related to supporting people experiencing homelessness with or at risk of becoming homeless which the postholder is expected to work closely with. In this context you will work to support service provision which takes into account peoples psychological and emotional needs and experiences of trauma. Using psychologically informed approaches you will be supporting the needs of those accessing services; for example, through implementation of Psychologically Informed Environments PIE and Trauma Informed Care. This will be through a multitude levels, including direct interventions, staff training and support, research and service evaluation, reflective practice, provision of psychological consultation, team formulation and clinical supervision.
