Change Grow Live is one of the UKs leading health and social care charities and the Substance Misuse Nurse role is a varied one. You will be supporting people with multi-faceted issues related to the impact of substance use on their physical and mental health.
Nurses are an integral member of our multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist clinical interventions to people who use our services. Every person who comes into our service is treated as an individual, so understanding the importance of a whole person approach along with being curious, a good listener, a clinically robust practitioner and having a flexible approach are essential skills.

Main duties of the job
Change Grow Live (CGL) is partnering with Renfrewshire Health & Social Care Partnership to provide a compassionate, trauma-informed clinical outreach service focused on harm reduction and rapid response to non-fatal overdoses. Commissioned to support both drug and alcohol users, the service operates in a peripatetic model across community hotspots, including the use of a dedicated harm reduction van. The Lead Nurse, as part of the senior leadership team, will manage the Renfrewshire Alcohol & Drug Outreach Service, overseeing Specialist Nurses and Outreach Support Workers. They will ensure high-quality clinical delivery, cover staffing gaps, liaise with health professionals, and maintain strong referral pathways. Working full-time on a flexible rota, staff will deliver care in varying conditions, with the skills to manage caseloads and facilitate access to health and recovery services. All team members are expected to uphold CGL's professional standards, promoting respect, collaboration, safeguarding, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
You will be expected to be a full-time member of the team. All team members will work on a rota basis - working 5
days over Mon - Sat. Working 10am - 8pm twice weekly and a Saturday 10am - 2pm
fortnightly.

Clinical Practice
Assure that integrated pathways are in place for individuals who require treatment and support for their health needs related to their addiction. Comply with and support existing immunisation and vaccination pathways to help combat blood borne viruses (BBVs) and other infectious diseases, and provide advice and information to other professionals on BBVs and the care of individuals with drug and alcohol issues.
Service Engagement and Promotion
Attend, organise, and chair relevant committees and partnership meetings as required, to ensure appropriate representation of services. Promote Change Grow Lives clinical service to commissioners and health and wellbeing boards alongside the Head of Services. Disseminate applicable information to your team from the senior operational and clinical management teams as required.
Delivering a Quality Service
Be involved in clinical audit of the service under the direction of the RLN. Contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved.
Leadership and Workforce Development
Ensure that all legislative requirements are explained to employees, particularly legislation governing the clinical and social care/community field. Maintain your own continuous professional development (CPD) and ensure you remain up to date with clinical practice, including CGL core, mandatory, and optional training. Engage proactively by participating in and providing line management and clinical supervision to the team. Maintain current knowledge of appropriate interventions and support, and identify training needs for yourself and your team, ensuring knowledge, behaviour, and capabilities are upheld within the line management structure.

Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge, follow national guidelines and developments, and incorporate them appropriately into your practice.
