Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist/ Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to be part of our multidisciplinary team, delivering comprehensive assessment, formulation and recovery focussed interventions to people who use substances.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a senior HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will ensure that people who access our services receive high quality care that adheres to best practice guidelines. The post holder will aim to reduce the distress and improve the psychological well-being of people who access our services.

Our model emphasises physical, psychological, and emotional safety and helps people to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment in their lives and in their communities. The post holder will work to ensure that psychological perspectives are central to everyones thinking. They will support the empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills, and professional confidence around the needs of the people who access our services. Through assessment, formulation, intervention, consultancy, reflective practice, team formulation and training, the post holder will help the wider team create an innovative and effective trauma-informed service.

The post holder will work in the Psychology Team within Brighton & Hove Substance Misuse Services, alongside psychological professionals including Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Trainee Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists and a Counsellor. The Psychology Team has dedicated admin support and office space and prioritises a compassionate and supportive working culture.

You will be line-managed by the Lead Psychologist.
