Job summary
Camden are looking for a Consultant Addictions Psychiatrist to work in our new service.
Our team is multi-disciplinary, that consist of a service manager, specialist doctors, psychologists, counsellors, nurses, health care assistants, recovery staff, volunteers, administrators and peer mentors, all focused on bringing the individuals using our services the best possible support & interventions.
The post holder will be the Clinical Lead for the service have responsibility to lead a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for service users.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will contribute to the service to ensure that service users consistently receive high quality services that adhere to the best practice guidelines and achieve high professional standards. They will be responsible for contributing to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. They will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide a constant stimulus for improving clinical services and be a role model. They will have a recovery-focussed approach to treatment. They will be part of the Senior Management Team and expected to contribute to the overall performance of the service to ensure that contractual output targets are achieved. They will be required to record and input client data and information in order that the service operates within contractual, administrative and financial requirements.
Successful candidates will be able to access a well-developed monthly CPD program, receive regular supervision and be fully supported in the appraisal and revalidation structure. All doctors within Change Grow Live receive weekly protected CPD and are encouraged and supported to get involved in clinical audit and research. Applicants for this role should have significant experience in addiction medicine at Consultant level.

- To provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service.
- In conjunction with other members of the Multidisciplinary Team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans.
- To regularly review and monitor patients treatment progress (including results of urinalysis and other laboratory investigations).
- Provide specialist prescribing assessments to opiate, stimulant, tranquilizer, barbiturate and alcohol dependent clients.
- Initiate appropriate prescribing regimes to clients in line with national legislation and national and local guidance.
- To work in partnership with users and carers so that they are fully involved in and empowered to make decisions about their treatment and care.
- To work constructively with managers and clinical colleagues to maintain effective team working and service improvement.
- Establish good communication and effective working relationships with all relevant agencies in relation to individual patients and service development
- Build a knowledge of and links with voluntary and independent service providers locally.
- Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.

- Full GMC - UK Registration with License to Practice
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
