Job responsibilities
TRAINING DELIVERY
Prepare, plan and deliver both theory and practice based
training sessions in accordance with those required by the contracting parties
or within the boundaries of awarding bodies.
Assist in the clinical/technical and professional
development of operational staff. Promote best practice across CIPHER Medical
to maintain and improve high standards of patient care.
Make decisions on the appropriate pedagogical approach in
order for students to enhance their learning and maintain or improve student
satisfaction.
Deliver the full range of education and training sessions
from first aid to paramedic education.
Using a variety of presentational aids participate in the
delivery of all clinical/technical and professional training courses to various
audiences both internal, external health professionals and members of the
public, ranging in numbers of attendees.
Participate in the delivery and development of courses and tailor
learning needs where appropriate.
Conduct training sessions in appropriate environments to
ensure the level of simulation for the course outcomes is achieved.
Perform training risk assessments and dynamic risk
assessment on off-site courses to ensure that all training, equipment and materials
used for the purpose of education and training are used in a safe manner to
ensure responsibilities regarding health and safety legislation are fulfilled.
Deliver all training within agreed quality systems and
review mechanisms to ensure the consistent delivery of all training to
standards defined internally and outside regulatory agencies or awarding bodies.
STUDENTS/STAFF
Through continuous evaluation and monitoring of the standard
and achievement of students, collate, analyse and report on student or trainee
progress.
Analyse and evaluate the many factors required to design,
plan and deliver appropriate educational programmes to ensure the training
needs of our wide and varied course students are met.
Analysing student feedback and evaluation adapt existing
teaching techniques to meet objectives and take into account the educational
requirements of individual students and cohorts where appropriate.
Constantly and consistently monitor student progress towards
course objectives, provide constructive feedback and initiate action plans
incorporating structured, measurable and timed outcomes within the tutorial
framework where required.
Ensure that comprehensive documentation in relation to
student progress is available for all students and can be drawn upon in a
timely manner should the need arise.
Take responsibility for collating comprehensive evidence to
support CIPHER Medical in progressing the failing student within the
appropriate course requirements.
Support students/staff who have been exposed to distressing
and/or emotional circumstances, including unsuccessful students.
Ensure that the welfare needs of all students/staff are
supported and that they are able to access the appropriate mechanisms CIPHER
Medical has in place if required.
Manage students/staff to ensure that professional standards
including dress, attendance and behaviour are maintained and when necessary,
address attitude and behaviour inconsistent with CIPHER Medicals mission and
values.
Participate in all aspects of the recruitment and selection
process of internal and external applicants.
TRAINING DEVELOPMENT
Effectively promote the evaluation, review and development
of all course programmes to ensure all staff are compliant in best practice and
that high standards of education, teaching and delivery are maintained.
Assist in the design and implementation of
specialised/individualised training packages to update or introduce new equipment
or procedures across the organisation working to set time frames and other
operational constraints.
Where required assist in formal assessment processes,
including conducting formal practical assessments and marking written
examination papers.
Liaise with the Head of Education and/or Head of Operations
to develop programmes of support for students with specific learning
difficulties in accordance with our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to make
reasonable adjustments in order to help them achieve their full potential.
Analyse trends and changes in clinical practice and make
recommendations to the Clinical Governance Panel to implement change and
improve patient care.
MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP
Hold or undertake and successfully complete an academic teaching
qualification.
Manage achievement of personal objectives and actively
participate in personal development and appraisal.
Maintain responsibility for personal development, retention
and acquisition of professional qualifications and registration as appropriate.
Maintain responsibility for personal clinical skills update,
including specified patient contact activity.
Develop and support individuals to enable them to achieve
their full potential and thereby enhance their personal performance.
Ensure that a positive image and commitment to equality and
diversity is demonstrated throughout CIPHER Medical.
Portray a positive image and take personal ownership of all
course elements to ensure operational staff are engaged and understand the
relevance of specified topics.

and leadership style. Leading by example, approachability and professionalism
are cornerstones of the CIPHER Medical leadership style.
Develop a continuous learning approach which will be
supported by the Head of Education with attendance at relevant conferences, courses
or other learning activities where demonstrably value and organisational demand
permits.
Provide Clinical Leadership by ensuring that clinical
practice is undertaken when possible, as a clinician and/or clinical lead at
events and/or NHS 999 contracts.

INTERNAL
CEO & Consultant Paramedic, Director Finance/HR, Head of
Education, Head of Operations, Dispatch Team Leader, PTS Team Leader,
Logistics/fleet, Health professionals, Technicians/ECAs, PTS staff.
EXTERNAL
Professional and awarding bodies, Ambulance Services, CCG
& PCN, the public, Health Professionals, Universities and other training
and education providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
HEALTH AND SAFETY & RISK
Ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of staff, the public
and visitors while on CIPHER Medical property and during off-site CIPHER
Medical training, education, events and all associated clinical activities.
Report all incidents and near-miss events in accordance with
the CIPHER H&S policy.
Investigate incidents and near misses when delegated.
SAFEGUARDING
Maintain up to date knowledge of safeguarding processes and
CIPHER Medical safeguarding policy.
Demonstrate courage and leadership by raising concerns and
challenging bad practice immediately.
The post is subject to Enhanced DBS.
MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP
Maintain a flexible approach and adapt to changing
circumstances within CIPHER Medical and comply with reasonable requests to
respond to new and challenging situations arising from the growth, change and
development of the company.
Working away from home for reasonable periods in response to
new and/or existing contracts or opportunities.
Complete course administration, e.g. booking, preparation of
exam papers, uploading of results, distribution of certificates.
Instigate positive change by suggesting changes to practice
and implement change arising from governance meetings or other CIPHER Medical
processes.
Investigate minor/moderate complaints as delegated and where
appropriate.
Act as peer support to staff under investigation.
INFECTION CONTROL
All CIPHER Medical staff have a duty they follow the IPC
policy or updated clinical bulletins, especially in the context and
unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Maintain confidentiality in relation to personal data held
for colleagues and patients, ensuring that it is processed lawfully; for no
purpose other than that for which it was obtained; is relevant to that purpose;
is retained for no longer than is necessary; is processed in accordance with
the rights of the subject to access and accuracy; and is protected from
accidental loss or damage in accordance with the requirements of the Data
Protection Act/GDPR and policy.
Maintain confidentiality of patient-identifiable personal
data using a non-identifiable alternative, where practicable, and limiting
access on a strictly need to know basis in accordance with the Caldicott
Guardian (CEO & Consultant Paramedic).
