Indigo Gender Service is a collaborative, innovative model of care between gtd healthcare, primary care and the LGBT Foundation for the NHS. We have an exciting opportunity for a Salaried GP to come onboard.

Indigo is a pioneering, localised and patient centred model that provides gender affirming healthcare for trans* and non-binary patients across Greater Manchester. We particularly welcome applicants from people of colour, trans and/or older (50+) as colleagues from these backgrounds are currently underrepresented in our organisation.

Your key role will be to carry out all relevant medical and associated administrative duties in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of trans, non-binary and gender variant people. You will work closely with the Clinical Director and other clinicians to deliver on the core responsibilities of the NHSE service specification.

The successful candidate will be motivated to undertake self-directed learning as well as further RCPtraining via the professional certificates for gender identity professionals, alongside gaining clinical experience of trans healthcare within the Multidisciplinary Team setting of Indigo Gender Service.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality and current evidence based medical care to the patients of the Indigo Gender Service.
  • Provide clinical services required as part of the Indigo Gender Services contract held with the NHSE specialist commissioners.
  • Operate as part of a wider networked clinical team with partner clinicians for peer development, peer support and provision of relevant services.
  • Potentially undertake clinics during extended hours in accordance with the access needs of the service population and the contractual obligation of the service. Any evening and weekend commitments will be shared equally and fairly across the GP team.
  • Provide support to other clinical professionals within the service, e.g., Advanced Clinical Practitioners, practice nurses and care navigators.
  • Actively participate in the development of the service and relationships with existing services to provide a holistic, community focused service that meets the needs of a diverse group of patients.
  • Work as an integral member of the clinical and non clinical team, contributing to the efficient and effective running of the service.
  • Support and encourage enterprise and innovation within the service by welcoming change and actively listening to new ideas and ways of working.
  • Participate in an ongoing personal and professional development programme including annual appraisal, supervision, job planning, re-licensing and revalidation.

  • Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion
  • of Training CCT).
  • Currently on a performers list and not suspended from that list or from
  • the medical register.
  • Accredited as a member of the Royal College Of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or have 5 years experience as a GP with a demonstrable commitment to quality practice.
