Job summary

As an Urgent Treatment Centre Lead Nurse Practitioner, you will be considered a key person in day-to-day clinical leadership and expertise within the department.
As part of your role, you will be part of a comprehensive UTC leadership team including a UTC lead, GP lead and service leads. Together, you will provide on the ground leadership ensuring the effective delivery of the UTC services. Your role will involve audits, clinical support, clinical leadership, working in partnership with stakeholders and so much more.
You will be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a clinicianin adiverse, multi-skilled teamthat includes GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates, Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches.

Main duties of the job
Principal duties and responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the performance and management of the nursing staff in the UTC.
- Monitor and audit various elements of the UTC.
- Understand and act upon various performance indicators.
- Be a role model for staff working in the UTC.
- Provide leadership to all staff working in the UTC.
- Take responsibility for the patients assigned through the streaming process.
- Perform assessment of patients needs, plan, implement and evaluate clinical treatment and care using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
- To assess diagnostics including ECGs, bloods, urinalysis, and X-rays.
- Be able to discuss with patients and carers the range of possible treatment/ management options and their implications before treatment decisions are made.
- Instigate and implement clinical management and treatment changes when appropriate.
- Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.
- To implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to area of work
- To deliver aspects of the Clinical Governance Agenda, following the direction of the Clinical Leadership.
- Contribute to and manage various elements of auditing in the UTC.
- To have overall responsibility for other members of the clinical team within the UTC
