Job summary

As a Bank UTC Senior Nurse, you will be considered a key person in day-to-day clinical leadership and expertise within the department.

You will be working as part of a team within your sphere of competency in adiverse, multi-skilled teamthat includes GPs, Advanced Practitioners, Physician Associates, Paediatric ANPs, Emergency Practitioners and Live Well Coaches.

On your shift, you will be expected to act as a shift leader, coordinate the working team, stream patients from the front door and work collaboratively with a wide range of local specialists.

Main duties of the job

Principal duties and responsibilities

- To monitor and manage the UTC patient case list.

- Effectively delegate tasks to staff on shift, providing safe and efficient care.

- Perform streaming safely and efficiently, assigning patients to the correct department and under the correct priority level.

- Provide a safe ED/UTC front door for patients and staff.

- To perform diagnostics including ECGs, bloods, and urinalysis.

- To provide reassurance to patients, families, and carers.

- Follow diagnostic and referral pathways.

- Effective communication with a range of inter-professional teams for patient referrals.

- Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.

- To implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to area of work

- Provide immediate life support.

- Up-to-date Basic Life Support Certification in Adult and Paediatric

- Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience

- Understanding of patient flow.

- Up to date BLS / ILS

- Up to date Safeguarding Adults and children

- A Proven ability to assess patients

- Ensure that patients with time-critical and time-sensitive illness or injury are prioritised accordingly

- Ability to demonstrate effective management and leadership skills

- Team player, able to use own initiative

- Can demonstrate the Organisational values.
