Practice Manager?
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Manager to join
the team at The Fairfield Practice.
The successful candidate will be replacing
the current practice manager after 36 years in the practice and will be responsible
for organisational and operational leadership, service improvement and
delivering key targets across the full range of clinical and administrative
areas.
Main duties of the job
Candidates must be conscientious, have proven
leadership and management experience. A sound knowledge of management, finance,
human resources and planning as well as effective communication skills at all
levels are essential for this position.
Supported by an excellent clinical and administrative team, including an
Assistant Practice Manager and a Finance Administrator, you will be expected to
have vision, willingness and drive, be adaptable and efficient. The Practice
Manager is a pivotal member of the organisation and will be expected to lead and
support the team to achieve its aims and objectives with professionalism.
The post will involve developing and implementing
the overall operational business strategy as agreed with the partners. This will include reviewing current
processes, plans, and procedures to ensure the practice meets its agreed aims
and objectives, within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective working
environment, whilst maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Fairfield Practice is a well-established 4 partner training practice located in Greenwich, London, with a list size of nearly 12,000 patients. The practice dates back to the 1960s and has a strong value of providing high quality, patient centred care to our local community. The 4 Partners work with a team of 2 salaried doctors and 1 Registrar. A very effective and experienced nursing team includes 1 ANP, 3 PNs and 2 HCAs. We work with a team of Clinical Pharmacists and a first contact Physiotherapist. We are an ambitious, positive, outward looking and forward-thinking practice and are part of Blackheath and Charlton Primary Care Network.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the
Practice Manager. There may be on occasion a requirement to carry out other
tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing
levels.
Facilities
Responsible for efficient management of the premises and
practice facilities, which would include liaison with key external contractors
such as maintenance, security and cleaning contractors, ensuring the site
meetings statutory requirements such as fire safety and infection control.
Equipment & IT
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring IT and
equipment checks, tests and upgrades are completed when needed and will be
required to deal with malfunctions of equipment and IT if they arise. They will
also be responsible for various other areas around equipment and IT including
consumable ordering and updating the practice and NHS choices website.
Data and reporting
The post holder will see to the submissions of data and
claims including, Caldicott Guardian, Covid claims, DESs, CIS and national
workforce reporting. The post holder will be required to ensure the practice
complies with all relevant legislation including GDPR & CQC Registration.
Finance
A finance administrator will be responsible for all finance
but the post holder will need to have a full understanding so that at any point
they are able to step in.
Staffing and rotas
Responsible for the management of HR issues I.e. staff
sickness, recruitment and inductions of new recruits. Annual leave allocation. Carrying
out probation reviews and appraisals and ensuring training needs of staff are
met. Updating the staff rota, updating the consultation room timetable and completing
the rota for COVID clinics. Booking locums.
Various general and other responsibilities
The post holder will also have various other day to
day duties and responsibilities such as managing contracts & variations CCG, NHSE, DES, KPIs, dealing
with SARs Requests, dealing with complaints and liaising with the PPG.
