Job summary

Welcome to FCMS!

Enhanced Access services provide appointments to Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre patients in the evenings and weekends when traditionally many GP Practices are closed. We are currently operating our services from 5 different locations across the Fylde and Wyre Area.

Patients can book an appointment to access this service via their own GP Practice, appointments are available with a variety of health care professionals including GPs, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in the Enhanced Access provisions supporting the team by fulfilling the agreed tasks.

The range of appointments offered will be aligned to the qualifications and competencies and may include:

Swabs (wounds)

Removal of sutures and staples

Venepuncture

Wound care

Ear Syringing

Routine chronic disease pre checks

The range of appointments will be confirmed after discussion with the Clinical Manager.

The post holder will be responsible for promoting and facilitating a healthy lifestyle and provide preventative health care and health education advice.

The post holder will also contribute to administration and housekeeping duties within the locations.

Job responsibilities

  • Obtain and document consent for any treatment undertaken and keep the patient at the centre of his/her own care, ensuring full participation in decision making.
  • Ensure clinical care is safe and effective and remains within the boundaries of competence.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with professional guidance.
  • Following appropriate training, undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including swabs and bloods and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment used.
  • Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
  • Ensure the correct use of clinical templates, read codes and protocols.
  • Take responsibility for the cleaning and stocking of clinical areas.
  • Dispose of clinical waste in a safe manner.
  • Inform the Clinical Lead of any untoward incidents e.g. falls, verbal aggression, criminal damage, safeguarding concerns.

  • Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to infection control policies/procedures.
