Personal clinical
responsibilities
Undertakes all duties and
responsibilities associated with a GP/ Advanced Practitioner working within
primary care, including a full range of medical services as defined in the core
APMS contract and additional and enhanced services where appropriate.
Leadership
Provide visible clinical
leadership to all clinical staff working within the practice, supported by the
practice management team.
Monitor quality and
appropriateness of clinical care across the practice.
Work with the Medical Director
and Deputy Medical Director of MKGP Plus to lead and develop the GP team.
Work with MKGP Plus Lead
Nurse to develop the nursing team.
Works with management and
senior clinical team to develop clinical protocols and standard operating
procedures as needed.
Works with practice management
to lead on the content of regular clinical meetings.
Participates in the
recruitment and appointment of new clinical staff to work within the practice.
Ensures new clinical staff have an appropriate induction.
Ensure appraisal, job planning
and continued professional development takes place for all clinical team
members.
Work with management team and
HR teams to resolve issues relating to poor performance of clinical staff.
Implement disciplinary procedures if needed.
Review and provide advice/
guidance regarding clinical complaints.
Provide advice on the
application of new clinical standards/guidelines (e.g.: NICE, RCGP etc).
Representation
Represent the practice
externally and be outward facing e.g. working collaboratively with other
practices, representation at CCG events, meetings with local councillors,
attendance at PPG and PCN meetings etc
Governance
Ensure MKGP Plus clinical
governance strategies, policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
Review said policies and procedures as needed.
Provide assurance to the MKGP
Plus Clinical Governance Board that governance processes are followed in the
practice.
Promote an organisational
culture committed to learning from complaints, incidents, audit, research and
development.
Take responsibility for
ensuring that the appropriate clinical audits, as dictated by the practice
audit calendar, are completed and that the learning from them is shared and
acted upon. These can be delegated to other members of the clinical team and do
not all need to be completed by the clinical lead themselves.
Ensure the practice is working
towards meeting annual QoF targets.
Ensure that a Safeguarding
team exists within the practice and that they are adhering to safeguarding
policies and procedures.
Audit 1% of doctors notes
monthly using the audit template and provide feedback.
Maintain a clinical risk
register, report incidents and work with the clinical governance support
person(s) with MKGP Plus
Business
Performance/Standards
Contribute to discussions in
relation to budgetary controls of medical workforce - Standards
Assist in the preparation for
external inspection
Contribute to the roll out of
contingency plans
Assist with implementation
plans to address issues highlighted by external reviews/audits (e.g. CQC, child
protection)
Assist with the evaluation of
the service in relation to clinical quality and safety (e.g. collating feedback
from patients and practices; significant event analysis; complaints monitoring
etc.)
