Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Freshney Pelham Care Ltd for a Safeguarding Coordinator. The post holder will be committed to supporting and improving safeguarding practice across the organisation and be a source of expertise for colleagues across our District Nursing, Care Home and Long Term Condition Teams

This post will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to lead on safeguarding with focus on Adult and Child Safeguarding, MCA (Mental Capacity Act), DoLs (Depravation of Liberty) and Prevent. You will work closely with the Nursing and Management Teams as well as partner agencies contributing and promoting safeguarding. It is expected that the post holder will have at least a Safeguarding Level 3 qualification alongside expertise, knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, MCA, DoLs and Prevent and experience within a social care setting regarding safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who would like the opportunity to:

  • support to FPC Management Team and Directors in Safeguarding; to include Adult and Child Safeguarding, MCA (Mental Capacity Act), DoLs (Deprivation of Liberty) and Prevent and participate in the planning, implementation and delivery of safeguarding for the organisation.
  • continue to meet the statutory requirements with regards to safeguarding within multidisciplinary / multiagency forums & establish good working relationships with other organisations, patients and their families.
  • deliver Safeguarding strategies.
  • provide advice and support to all FPC professionals and be a source of expertise to both patients and staff, promoting a level of judgement, decision making and discretion.
  • Provide knowledge and updates of national and local guidance via training sessions to staff (internal and external) to the organisation.

About us

As a District Nursing Team, we cover around 40,000 patients across the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area for the Freshney Pelham PCN Practices. Each surgery is represented on our Board of Directors by a nominated GP.

We currently have 42 staff consisting of Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, HCA's and an Admin team. We have recently created a Long Term Condition Team and a Care Home Team and are now looking to grow our Nursing Team further.

  • To act as a source of advice and support to staff in regards to Safeguarding, MCA, DoLs and Prevent, providing feedback and identifying opportunities for learning for all staff.
  • Assist the Management Team to develop Safeguarding Policies, training programmes, procedures and guidance for the service; and ensure they are reviewed at least annual to meet Government & Local Frameworks.
  • Ensure FPC actively participates in all safeguarding concerns and incidents that are raised and documentation is shared in accordance with DPA (Data Protection) policies and procedures.
  • Establish good working relationships and liaise with other organisations, authorities, patients and families in regards to safeguarding adults at risk in the community collaboratively.
  • To liaise with Safeguarding Lead at CCG and ensure two way communication.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise on local and national policy regarding safeguarding.
  • Assist the Management Team with any investigations / complaints around safeguarding.

  • Educated to degree level.
  • Training / mentoring qualification.
