Job summary

At IHG we absolutely put patients first and we were delighted to achieve an overall rating of Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in 2022. We are proud of our consistently good outcomes from the NHS staff survey - our staff are proud to work for us and of the care we deliver - but we are not resting on our laurels!

We have ambitious plans for growth and, as people are at the heart of all we do, we need to ensure we have the workforce to deliver that growth. This means attracting and retaining the right staff with the right skills, who share our values and commitment to excellent patient care, and ensuring IHG remains a great place to work. We are looking to appoint an experienced and passionate HR professional to develop and deliver our workforce plan and, as part of the senior leadership team, support IHG achieve its strategic objectives.

We support flexible working. The role supports the workforce both at Head Office and across sites, and is offered as a blend of home and office working, with occasional travel to sites. The role is available full time or part-time (4 days per week)

Main duties of the job

As Head of HR you will champion good people management practice which ensures IHG is well led and has a culture which enables staff to deliver high quality, patient-centred care. You will provide expert guidance and act as a sounding board to the Chief Executive and leadership team on all aspects of people management and organisation development.

As a member of the leadership team you will role model the IHG values; ensure services are well led, safe, efficient and effective; ensure IHG meets its growth and service development objectives; and that IHG is a great place to work.

About us

We were set up in 2004 by Dr Matthew Wordsworth with the aim of offering patients the choice of being treated out of hospital, closer to home. Matt wanted to create a new health care organisation in which like-minded health care professionals could work together to deliver truly patient-centred care. We setout to be a leading provider of community-based diagnostic and treatment services of the highest quality, where patients always come first.

We provide day-case surgical services under local anaesthetic including hernia, hand, podiatric, vasectomy and ophthalmology from sites in Wiltshire, Leicestershire, Gloucestershire and Devon. All the work we undertake is for the NHS.

We are a small friendly team and offer our staff an innovative, alternative way to delivering health care, with a very patient-centred approach. We consistently receive favourable feedback from our patients, who value both the short wait-times and being seen and treated by the same clinician at each visit. Our staff are proud to work for us and proud of the care we deliver.

If you would like an informal discussion about the role please email Claire Damen, Chief Executive on claire.damen@nhs.net with your telephone number and when you are available to speak.

Interviews are planned for Tuesday 25th April 2023
