Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 phlebotomist to join our friendly team, providing a service for Southampton residents in the community, including residential care.

We are looking for a Band 3 experienced phlebotomist who is hard working, organised, able to work independently and be prepared to learn new skills.

Regular support, supervision and training will be given.

This position requires some experience within a similar role and experience of working in the community is desirable but not essential

This position involves travelling to multiple sites across Southampton and will require a full driving license and access to a vehicle

Full time post working Monday to Friday, 08.00 16.00. Part time hours also considered.

Fixed Term Contract until March 31st 2025

Main duties of the job

To be responsible day to day for organising allocated workload.

Work within the community (e.g. within a patients own home) as a lone practitioner with telephone support. Seek advice and support from a more senior colleague for matters outside sphere of responsibility, knowledge or skills.

Obtain informed consent from the patient to treatment and the sharing of information, documenting in accordance with company procedures.

Use documentation to record outcome of visit on IT system.

Seek advice from manager, if specific risks are identified e.g. unsafe environmental conditions.

To work within health and safety guidelines and policies and adhere to relevant company procedures.

You will need to be flexible to fit in with service requirement.

Support with stock take and ordering of disposable equipment.

Confidentiality is required at all times within this role.

JOB SUMMARY

To work as part of an integrated team to provide health care and support under the direction and supervision of qualified staff to patients aged over 16 registered in Southampton City

providing care to people in the community including residential care.

Carry out blood tests at the request of GP Practices

To maintain own Continuing Professional Development.

To actively participate and contribute to team working in response to service developments and the business plan.

To manage own allocated workload.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be responsible for the day to day planning of allocated workload and cover others workload during absence.

Work within the community (e.g. within a patients own home) as a lone practitioner with telephone support. Seek advice and support from a more senior colleague for matters outside sphere of responsibility, knowledge or skills.

Obtain informed consent from the patient to treatment and the sharing of information, documenting in accordance with company procedures.

Ensure patient held records are completed for each visit and that appropriate IT systems are updated daily

To record outcome of planned visit and feedback any significant changes in patients condition to relevant clinician

To work within health and safety guidelines and policies and adhere to relevant company procedures.

Adhere to relevant Policies and Procedures using the relevant risk assessment tools/process:

Lone working in the community.

Patient handling in challenging environment where the principles of best practice regarding patient handling may be compromised.
