Job summary

The Clinical Lead is responsible for:

Supporting the Director to produce a clinical vision and clinical strategy for the anticoagulant monitoring service (AMS).

Clinically leading all anticoagulant monitoring services delivered by IntraHealth.

Providing support and clinical leadership and mentoring to the anticoagulant monitoring service, Local Service Leads, Clinicians delivering the service, and the service support team.

Overall clinical performance of each of the anticoagulant monitoring services and the individual operatives analysing performance and providing feedback, guidance, and encouragement in order to meet clinical objectives of the service.

Ensuring that a safe and efficient anticoagulant monitoring service is delivered.

As necessary prescribe initiation doses of anticoagulation agents, Vitamin K and related agents.

Leading the patient complaint and significant event processes for the AMS service.

Ensuring that clear clinical benchmarks are set (KPIs) for clinicians to provide a safe and efficient service, including TTR, patient recall rates, clinical activity and reviews of clinic and domiciliary slots.

Providing a central point of contact for the Commissioner of the Anticoagulant Monitoring Service and associated complaints.

Main duties of the job

1. Supporting the Director to produce a clinical vision and clinical strategy for IntraHealths anticoagulant monitoring service.

2. Managing, maintaining, and improving the quality, safety and clinical performance for all Anticoagulant Monitoring Services delivered by IntraHealths Divisions (CSD, Primary Care and Community Pharmacy).

3. Develop and implement specialist policies, clinical protocols, and guidelines within IntraHealth relating to anticoagulant care. Specific responsibilities include anticoagulation guidelines.

4. Liaise with ICBs / commissioners / PCNs when required and assist in the continued development of the anticoagulant monitoring service.

5. Clinical management of all clinicians and non-clinicians delivering the service.

  1. As necessary prescribe initiation doses of anticoagulation agents, Vitamin-K and related agents.

7. Ensure that all staff maintain competencies to deliver a safe and effective service.

8. Ensure that service meets or exceeds clinical targets.

9. Interact with service users to address queries, complaints and achieve high satisfaction. Provide a prompt and effective response liaising with colleagues where appropriate.

10. Supporting clinical services business manager with Complaints handling:

a. ensure all patient complaints are dealt with in line with insurers, Company, commissioner, and NHS procedures.

We operate NHS services across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.

We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to join us in a new role of Data Officer to support our Clinical Services Division (which includes School Immunisation contracts and Anticoagulation Monitoring Service contracts) based at our Head Office in the William Brown Centre, Peterlee, County Durham and/or at one of our offices across the regions in which we operate (North West ,Yorkshire or Midlands).

14. Attend and participate in meetings / conferences nationally relating to the provision of anticoagulant monitoring as required by Directors.

15. Be responsible for identifying risks associated with the anticoagulant monitoring services delivered by IntraHealth and addressing them.

16. Assure all company policies are adhered to.

17. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders locally and nationally.

18. Identifying and implementing innovations to enhance the existing service.
