You will be joining the Young People Thrive Service. We offer a range of evidence-based psychological interventions including guided self-help based on cognitive behaviour therapy, online psychological treatment programmes and psycho-educational groups and workshops.Working directly with young adults transitioning into adulthood aged 17 to 25 years to help them manage their recovery.
The role will allow you to apply your training and
experience to other areas of support such as community outreach, programme
development and delivery in schools, colleges and universities.
Part of the benefit of the role is that you will
develop independent decision-making skills.
You will get involved in different aspects of the
service and wider organisation to broaden your experience of working within the
voluntary community sector, education settings, local authority, and NHS.
Aspects of the role include structuring of the
service, which would be beneficial for developing managerial skills.

This role will suit a candidate who would like to
develop other specialist areas such as outreach, as well as clinical IAPT work.
Main duties of the job
Your role is to deliver high-quality;
brief outcome focused evidence-based guided self-help and therapeutic
activities for young people experiencing anxiety disorders, low mood and
behavioural difficulties occasionally, using the core principles of CYP-IAPT
(Improving Access to Psychological Therapy) practice. In addition, the role
will include supporting other services and projects such as children
transitioning into secondary school; and eating disorders.
The therapeutic interventions will be offered on a
one-to-one basis in person, via telephone or online, as well as webinars and in-person
groups. You will play a key part in managing referrals and signposting to appropriate
mental health services while working with other health professionals, high
intensity therapists, employment advisers and other support staff.
As a key member of the team, you will be valued for
your contribution and will have the opportunity to be involved in developing this
innovative service. Critical to our delivery is making services accessible to
all service users.
You should be a trained practitioner and have experience
of working in an IAPT service, ideally with children and young adults as well
as the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in
an inclusive, value driven service.
This role will be ideal if you are interested in
delivering accessible community-based mental health services and keen to pursue
a career in mental health and/or clinical psychology.

Young People Thrive is an emotional
and mental health wellbeing service for children, young people, and their
families delivered by CB Plus.
Currently working in Barnet, Brent and Hillingdon.
Our current service offer in Barnet,
Brent and Hillingdon is for young people aged between 11 and 25 years,
including students of Barnet and Southgate and Uxbridge Colleges, and Brunel and
Middlesex Universities.
The service is set up to provide a
range of Step-2 IAPT-complaint (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies)
CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) evidence based therapeutic interventions to
young people affected by mild to moderate low mood, depression and anxiety
disorders.

of Young People Thrive. CB Plus is an award-winning charity delivering community and development
services in 7 London Boroughs. We support and represent residents and voluntary
and community groups, charities, and faith groups across London. We have been
established for 40 years, and our mission is to help transform local

CLINICAL
Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.
Assess and support children and young people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.
Undertakes patient-centred interviews which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Provide a range of evidence-based interventions using core principles of CYP-IAPT practice.
Deliver CBT webinars-based interventions to support mild to moderate depression and anxiety
Involve family members, referrers and others in treatment as necessary.
Work in partnership with children, young people and their families in the self-management of presenting difficulties and in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.
Work closely with other members of the staff team, and the team around the child/young person, to ensure appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
Assess and integrate issues surrounding education into the overall therapy process.
Always operate from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity.
SUPERVISION
Prepare and present clinical information for all clients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisor and service are delivered.
Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice.
Engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competences and clinical practice.
Engage in all requirements to use feedback and clinical outcomes tools
Engage in service user participation as appropriate
PROFESSIONAL
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to CB Plus and any regulating bodies, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS Long term plan, National Service Framework: Standard 9, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of treatment for common mental health problems.
Ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with your line manager/senior therapist on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.
Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuous Professional Development and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.
Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives.
