Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals who would like to pursue a career in primary care, in a developmental role as a Trainee Nursing
Associate (TNA) who would qualify to be a Registered Nursing Associate (RNA). Within the
apprenticeship period, you will study with Teesside University, working towards the
NMC standards of proficiency for Nursing Associates. You will combine your
academic work with on-the-job training, within an exciting and innovative primary care setting in
Darlington PCN and deliver care, based on the needs of the population of
Darlington.
The TNA foundation degree training programme is usually completed
over two years. During this time, you must complete at least 2,300 programme
hours, which are divided to achieve an equal balance of theory and practice
learning.
To meet the requirements of the training programme, TNAs must
work in a range of settings and situations to gain as much experience as
possible across different age groups. You must complete external placements, totaling
460 hours across 2-years, in settings other than your primary place of
employment, which will be a GP surgery in Darlington.

consisting of 11 GP Practices covering an ever-increasing population of
108,000+ registered patients in Darlington, County Durham. We have close links

from newly refurbished dedicated premises close to Darlington Memorial Hospital

Entry
requirements: you should be highly motivated towards a career as a Nursing Associate
within the primary care setting. You should have excellent communication
skills and be able to demonstrate evidence of GCSE A-C/4-9 or functional Maths & English level 2 and a full UK/EU clean driving licience.

mental health services through Tees, Esk and Wear Valley Trust; this list is
not exhaustive.
Once qualified you will support and
supervise trainee nursing associate apprentices, health care support workers
and those new to care roles, for example, those undertaking the care
certificate with their learning and development.
During your apprenticeship you will be supported
by the TNA programme lead, the PCN Practice Nurse Lead and other registered
nurses you work with, as well as HCAs, GPs, Pharmacists and the wider primary
care teams clinical and non-clinical.
