Job summary

We are seeking to recruit Staff as Covid swabbing assistants on a bank contract; these roles are located at our headquarters in Central Bristol. The Covid Swabbing Team established to delivering testing for patients across the healthcare system.

This will provide an excellent opportunity as a first step in to the organisation. The Covid Swabbing Assistants will function as part of the Covid testing team taking swab samples and completing administration duties to support local healthcare.

Main duties of the job

Primary function of Covid Support role, taking samples from Patients as part of a pre-planned booking.

Post holders will travel to patients homes and carry out swab sample.

Full training and uniform will be provided.

Job responsibilities

This post has been created in response to the current Pandemic and support the on going Covid 19 Testing Service. It will have a crucial role in local area to defeat the Covid 19 pandemic. The testing is of COVID-19 using oral swabs, which laboratories have been using to confirm this disease. The post holder will be given required training to undertake the post.

The post holder will work to a set of Standard Operating Procedures.

Conduct routine swab COVID19 Testing in a variety of settings

To ensure COVID19 Test Kits are stored and transported safely

To support the COVID19 Testing Supervisor in managing the Testing service.

To support the administration function of the COVID19 Testing Hub team as and when needed.

Travel between approved Covid 19 testing sites and to different community settings will be essential.

DUTIES

Communication Use a range of communication skills in order to convey information effectively to patients, carers and families overcoming any barriers to having a COVID19 test, providing reassurance and support during the process.

Communicate accurate information clearly, effectively and appropriately with the patients, families, and colleagues.

Respond appropriately to routine queries, take phone messages and pass on written and verbal information to patients and staff in a timely manner. Accept instructions and receive constructive feedback from mentors/qualified staff.

Testing

The post holder will collect initial diagnostic testing, collecting samples from the upper respiratory specimen, gently performing the swab.

The post will be responsible for immediately placing tests into a sterile transport tube.

The post holder will use developed empathy and reassurance skills to keep patients calm during the process to safeguarding a painless experience.
