This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work as member of a cohesive and skilled multidisciplinary team in the delivery of person focused care and treatment for adults and young people who are engaged in inpatient treatment for an eating disorder.

The successful candidate will provide effective programmes of Occupational Therapy for a specific patient group and contribute to the overall service development.

The post holder will work in a designated area (Adolescent and Adult unit including the transition service) within the specialist eating disorder service. They will provide a variety of individual and group Occupational Therapy interventions appropriate to the patient population and in line with best practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide a patient needs led occupational therapy programme using a range of assessments, treatment approaches and evaluation based on best available evidence.
  • Be actively involved in the clinical risk assessment and development of risk management plans for patients and adhere to these.
  • Effectively manage a nominated caseload as named Occupational Therapist/key worker.
  • Adhere to local OT Quality Standards and COT Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy.
  • Successfully time manage and prioritise areas of responsibility.
  • Support and guide non-registered staff and participate in the education and supervision of students.
  • Liaise effectively and be an active member of the relevant multidisciplinary teams, providing clinical reports as necessary and actively contribute to the Care Programme Approach process.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant meetings as required
  • Communicate effectively with the MDT.

Where appropriate to work collaboratively with parents/carers.

Education and Development

Actively participate in relevant courses, workshops and conferences.

Participate in the hospitals Performance Appraisal and Development process and contribute to that that of non-registered staff.

Continually update and develop skills and utilise CPD opportunities and maintain portfolio in line with HCPC standards.

Complete all essential training.

Engage in regular clinical and managerial supervision.

To contribute in the supervision of non-registered staff and students as appropriate.

Health and Safety

Ensure the maintenance of a safe environment.

Contribute to the General Workplace Risk Assessment process and adhere to specific activity risk management plans.

Work within Health and Safety legislation, hospital policies and procedures.
