Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for PCN 3 to recruit 5 x GPA roles who will work within a new PCN Docman Workflow Hub which seeks to effectively process and manage practice workflow at scale via the PCN.

They require enthusiastic General Practice Assistants (GPAs) who will complement the team through an enhanced passion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality patient services and to the wider agenda of team working.

PCN 3 consists of 7 GP practices serving a diverse population of over 70,000 patients in and around Barnet. They enjoy excellent collaborative working relationships. There practices are all high-achieving and innovative training practices, and their ethos is to develop the PCN with a focus on high quality, holistic patient care. They have strong PCN leadership team consisting of a Clinical Director & Head of Business who are both aspirational and transformational.

They have a rich diversity of PCN staff who aim to provide a personalised care approach for our patients, including Pharmacists, Nursing Associate, First Contact Physiotherapists, Pharmacy Technicians, Care co-ordinators, Health and Wellbeing Coaches and Social Prescribers working alongside our GPs, nurses and extended practice teams.

Main duties of the job

General Practice Assistant (GPA) will support smooth running of the PCN's clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GPs freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

A significant aspect of the role will be working within the PCN Docman workflow Hub.

The GPA will support the PCN Management team with the administrative and digitalisation tasks.

You may be required to travel to a variety of sites within the PCNs geographical location

Within this, we are divided into 7 Primary Care Networks (PCNs), each with its own leadership structure. Barnet Federated GPs is made up of a small, office-based team along with some clinical and non-clinical staff whom we employ on behalf of the PCNs. We currently have an enthusiastic and very supportive Board of Directors leading Barnet Federated GPs who are focused on supporting and sustaining Primary Care in the London Borough of Barnet.

Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.

Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes on EMIS

  • NVQ Level 3, Advanced level or equivalent qualifications or a willingness to work towards.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a community, social care or voluntary sector.
  • Extensive experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (including electronic diary management) and Internet Explorer for a range of different purposes.
  • Experience of social prescribing models.

Desirable

  • Experience of using a Patient Management System (e.g. EMIS web) or any other case management systems.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working with voluntary organisations including volunteers.
  • Experience of producing individual care plans.
  • Experience of managing a caseload.
