Job summary

Barnet Federated GPs (BFG) is leading on the recruitment of the Managing Director of the North Central London (NCL) General Practice Provider Alliance (GPPA). This is an exciting senior post that will play an important role in supporting and shaping the future of general practice provision in NCL.

With the formation of the Integrated Care Board (ICB), and the associated Integrated Care System (ICS) across North Central London (NCL), and Integrated Care Partnerships (ICPs) in Boroughs, there is a need for a unified representative primary care influence that recognises and asserts the importance and role of primary care in the wider system. From July 2022 that unified voice in NCL has been delivered through the GP Provider Alliance (GPPA).

Solid foundations have been put in place during a dynamic first year, and now the GPPA is looking to recruit a managing director for one-year fixed term opportunity.

Key working relationships for the role will be: The GPPA Board, Primary Care Providers including Federations, Primary Care Networks, Practices, and NHS 111, the ICB, NHS Trusts, the Local Medical Committee and wider stakeholders across NCL.

Main duties of the job

This role represents an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced senior manager to provide Board-level leadership to the North Central London (NCL) General Practice Provider Alliance (GPPA).

The postholder will lead the GPPA at a strategic level as Managing Director (MD), working closely with the GPPA Chair on developing and maintaining strong working relationships with system partners and external stakeholders, and working with the Board Executives to manage the GPPA on a day-to-day basis.

The successful candidate will have the experience and skills to oversee the development of strategic goals and sustainable growth through partnership working and collaboration.

The postholder will be leading and representing an Alliance focussed on innovation and sustainable quality health outcomes for all the patients of NCL GP Practices. Correspondingly the postholder will be required to maintain and promote inclusive leadership based on these values and be visible as a collaborative system leader and role model.

About us

The North Central London Integrated Care System (NCL ICS) is a partnership of local authorities and health and care organisations from Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington. NCL ICS are working together to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the population across North Central London.

General practice in North Central London (NCL) has a voice in the new system via the General Practice Provider Alliance (GPPA). The ambition is for the alliance to help general practice to have a unified provider voice to strategically lead, influence and enable primary care provision across NCL, and to provide the best possible services for communities.

Barnet Federated GPs CIC is a not for profit organisation, putting GPs and healthcare professionals at the forefront of Primary Healthcare provision in Barnet. The Federation supports the developing Primary Care Services being delivered in Barnet as well as its Primary Care Networks and 50 GP practices across the borough.

To develop the strategy of the Alliance, ensuring that the vision of the Board is interpreted and translated into a business plan that is embedded within the Alliance and its programmes of work.

To ensure that the Alliance engages openly, fairly, and transparently with its constituent members, and is compliant with Equality and Inclusion legislation, and other relevant policies.

System Leadership

To work collaboratively with system partners and stakeholders and engage with them on equal terms to ensure that the GPPA remains a sustainable and credible Alliance within the changing health and social care landscape.

Actively engage with PCNs, the LMC and Federation to ensure that they understand and can contribute to the GPPAs aims, goals and work.

Ensure that the GPPA provides a unified voice for General Practice as a provider by being responsive to and reflective of the views of member organisations, General Practices and our patients.

Develop and deliver a communications strategy to ensure the GPPA and its work is highly visible with member practices and stakeholders. Consult with the media as required.
