Job summary
The SPIN programme is now established in North Central London but moving into a new phase that requires innovation to sustain a more diverse multiprofessional offer across various stages of professional careers. The postholder will need to manage the existing GPN fellowship programme, with the current GP Programme Director and Programme Manager (PM).
The clinical lead will ensure that they bring their own clinical perspective to the programme while being able to gain the credibility and respect of a range of other clinicians. They will work to understand the different needs of those professions, increasing the retention of our wider workforce in NCL, and developing a diverse leadership.
Main duties of the job
- Maintains the infrastructure for GPN fellowships within the NCL footprint, and provides support to practices for the model
- Provides educational support to participants of the scheme. Co-design and facilitate educationally led peer support sessions for SPIN fellows as agreed with the programme team and working with borough facilitators.
- Works alongside the Fellowships Project Team to engage with the wider system and support the design and delivery of portfolio programmes along with all partners across the system.
- Maintain oversight of the wider workforce elements of the scheme on behalf of NCL.
- Participate in the wider NCL Faculty of Educators, ensuring the approach to fellowships is well embedded in wider infrastructure for education across NCL
- Liaise with other key stakeholders including General Practices to roll out local iterations of SPIN fellowships.
- Provide peer support for the SPIN fellows
- Lead and develop local forums/networks across NCL in partnership with other multiprofessional leads
- Provide assurance and contribute to continuous evaluation and improvement of retention initiatives and wider workforce issues as relevant and appropriate.
- Leadership responsibility for the advertisement and recruitment of fellows.
- Remains accountable to the employing host.

This role is part of NCL Training Hub, hosted by Haringey GP Federation, and is an opportunity to join a growing team aimed at developing our health and social care workforce in North Central London. The North Central London (NCL) Training Hub is a network of multidisciplinary primary care teams, community providers, and social care providers. Training Hubs receive core funding from NHS Englands Workforce Training & Education Directorate. We also have extra commissions from Integrated Commissioning Boards, Local Authorities and other partners.
The NCL Training Hub has been established to enhance training, education, and workforce development with specific focus on enhancing the recruitment of new, and retention of current, staff. The NCL Training Hub has developed innovative educational and workforce initiatives for primary, community and social care. During 2021-22, these innovative models have been shortlisted and won national awards, including from HSJ and shortlisted for Nursing Times.
