Job summary

We are looking for one or more Registered Nurses who already have, or want to develop, skills as an educator.

The purpose of the role is to facilitate high standards of clinical practice in Primary Care and a key objective is to promote Primary Care as an attractive setting for nurses to develop their career in the specialism. The post holder(s) will need to develop networks to support nurses and reduce isolation and vulnerability of their roles.

This exciting role will initially focus upon the needs of Trainee Nursing Associates (TNAs) with the intention of developing a broader remit over time, subject to ongoing funding.

The post-holder(s) will be supported to develop and formalise their clinical education skills and qualifications, with access to a range of training and development opportunities.

You should be a Registered Nurse, preferably with post registration experience in General Practice, as well as experience as a clinical educator/supervisor.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work alongside learners in a coaching and mentoring capacity to promote best practice, to motivate and inspire staff to achieve their best and promote a positive learning culture within General Practice.

  • You will obtain a formal educational qualification

  • Attend relevant employer and sector groups meetings to raise the profile of the provision.

  • Support the recruitment of internal and external candidates who want to apply for the nursing associate apprenticeship and nursing degree apprenticeship.

  • Encourage the development of practice placements to raise the profile of nursing in primary and social care.

  • Sign-post candidates to appropriate learning needed to meet the educational requirements for their desired course, for example, ‘functional skills’ in Maths and English.

  • Provide regular group supervision and/or action learning for staff, as required.

  • Development of communication networks and close working with practice managers, practice placement areas and HEIs.

Since their inception as Community Education Provider Networks (CEPNs) 6 years ago, Training Hubs have developed as effective networks that develop innovative educational and workforce initiatives for primary, community and social care.

The purpose of the Training Hub is to support team working across professional and organisational boundaries to prevent fragmentation and duplication of care. Training Hubs are seen to be the main vehicle to deliver workforce development, training, and education in local areas.

The North Central London Training Hub is made up of five local borough-based hubs (Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden, and Islington) that work collaboratively across the local ICS footprint to support key workforce agendas.
