Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP to join a committed team at Staunton Group Practice. This is a 14,000 patient practice in the centre of the diverse and vibrant borough of Haringey. The local GP Federation, Federated4Health, has been caretaking the practice for 1.5 years and during that time there has been significant transformation.

Having built strong clinical safety and patient experience, we are now entering a new phase of fully establishing a substantive clinical and management team at the practice. Our leadership team is made up of 4 GPs and 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and the clinical team includes GPs, ANPs, nurses, clinical pharmacists, paramedics and an HCA.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will be GPs who are committed to providing excellent patient centred care to the population of Wood Green.

You will be a team player and an active contributor, committed to continuing to develop the practice so that it achieves all its clinical performance targets, is known for excellent patient care and is an active member in the local Primary Care Network (PCN).

You will have an excellent manner with patients and be committed to supporting them holistically including by engaging the whole practice team, for example social prescribing link workers.

We are seeking people who are able to work 6-8 sessions per week but this is negotiable.

We provide a range of services in Haringey including leading two practices in Haringey. We also provide services which are best delivered by Primary Care at scale; integrated services, working with partners in our local borough partnership; and support practices including back office support, workforce and training and some shared staffing clinical teams.

Job Overview

To work autonomously providing general medical services for patients of Staunton Group Practice registered with us on a permanent, temporary or immediately necessary basis.

To deliver a safe, competent and acceptable standard of medical care, taking part in the day-to-day activities of Staunton Group Practice including surgery, paperwork and home visits where appropriate.

Maintaining appropriate records to ensure continuity and quality of care for patients. These must be accurate, and where possible, avoid jargon to ensure patients understand the content if viewing their clinical notes.

To collaborate with other staff of Staunton Group Practice to achieve all clinical performance targets and directed or local enhanced services for Staunton Group Practice or Primary Care Network (PCN).

To be involved in practice development; identifying service changes and developments in line with clinical needs locally.

To maintain skills to the required professional level and undertake training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain personal competency.

Role Specific Duties

To provide high-quality medical services in the context of general practice to the patients registered with Staunton Group Practice in line with the agreed requirements of the practice NHS contract including the quality and outcomes framework and any local and enhanced services.

To prescribe generically for patients as appropriate to need and be able to provide appropriate clinical rationale with support from the Medicines Management Team.

To respond to medical/health problems presented by patients on the registered list including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate, ensuring management is in line with national guidelines and pathways.

To provide appropriate health promotion and preventative health care advice to all patients attending the practice, ensuring such advice enables self-management and choice where possible.

To read and interpret test requests and results ordered by you and other team members taking appropriate action based on the findings.

To carry out appropriate administrative and other duties in line with the needs of the practice including referral to other services, maintenance of records, managing registers etc.

To produce and comply with a work plan developed in partnership with the Practice Leadership Team to ensure all work is delivered appropriately and safely.

Participate in activities required to assess compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards.

To provide any services as required for the Primary Care Network agreement including shared service specifications.

To work in line with all practice policies and procedures including human resources, safeguarding children etc.

To undertake appropriate audit in practice to identify clinical quality issues and define processes to improve clinical outcomes.

Ensure that Patients rights are protected.

Working With Others

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all other employees and contractors at Staunton Group Practice, including wider team meetings and forums to promote communication and development.

To manage the practice caseload in partnership with other practitioners to ensure quality outcomes for patients and carers.

To be actively involved in innovation & to identify ways to ease the burden of demand.

To develop positive collaborative working relationships across all areas of the care team (primary, secondary and social care) and with carers.

To liaise with all relevant agencies and services to promote knowledge and awareness of services in practice and the local community.

To work flexibly in order to help cover leave, including holidays and short-term leave during sickness.
