Due to a recent retirement the Mortimer
Medical Practice are looking for an enthusiastic addition to join our reception
team the primary location for this post will be Leintwardine Surgery with
opportunities to work at Kingsland and Orleton.
The successful applicant will be highly efficient and organised with excellent computer and communication skills, both oral and written. You will require good interpersonal skills and flexibility to tackle the different scenarios which may arise. Keyboard/computer skills essential. Applicants must have a flexible approach to working and be prepared to work additional hours, as and when required, to help cover periods of staff shortage.
Previous NHS experience is not essential but will be an advantage. Only short listed applicants will be notified.

* This role is for 21 to 30 hours per week - with no weekend or bank holiday working*
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Opening up/locking-up of Practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
- Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointments system
- Processing face to face and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring calls are dealt with in the appropriate manner
- Effective care navigation of patient enquiries being able to appropriately sign post patients to the most appropriate clinician or service and identifying which patients need a GP appointment, nurse appointment, physiotherapy triage etc. and which can be dealt with administratively
- Monitoring the flow of patients through the waiting room
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
- Using AccuRX texting system to send links and messages to patients as per practice protocols.
- Processing new registrations
- Keeping the reception area and waiting area free from obstructions and clutter.
About us
Our three site Practice has just over 8900 patients. Our main site is in the village of Kingsland and we have two satellite surgeries in the villages of Leintwardine and Orleton.
We have 3
GP partners and 5 salaried GPs, the nursing team consists of 6 nurses, 3
HCAs. We are a dispensing Practice with a dispensary at each site. In addition we have a Pharmacist, Paramedic
Physicians Associate and Physiotherapist.
We are proactive teaching site of GP registrars, Student Nurses and Dispensary Apprentices and Business Administration Apprentices.
