Job summary

Would you like to join our passionate team as an HR Advisor?

You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality HR services and advice to our employees and managers at Taurus Healthcare and across Herefordshire General Practice. You will be responsible for a variety of HR functions including complex employee relation case work, performance management, and policy implementation. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated HR professional looking to make a significant impact in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

Proficiency in the use and development of HR Information Systems is essential in this role and experience with People HR system is desirable.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity for someone to utilise their HR skills and knowledge across different HR work streams in Healthcare.

Experience of working in a regulated environment (preferably NHS / Primary Care) and CIPD Level 5 is essential in this role.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide general HR support and advice covering all employee lifecycle activity to both employees and managers.
  • Lead on complex employee relations case work including but not limited to, performance management, disciplinary, grievances and managing change projects.
  • Undertake and support relevant recruitment activity, including salary benchmarking, interviewing and support with writing job descriptions.
  • To undertake corporate inductions as required.
  • Deliver HR training or workshops as required.
  • Review and development of policies and processes.
  • Create and report on relevant KPIs, and data processing.
  • Supporting on project and development activities; seeking opportunities to refine and streamline practice.
  • Maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality at all times.

Job Purpose

  • Provide high-quality advice on all HR issues and work alongside the HR Team to ensure there is the best people-management practice, including workforce management and development and employee relations across the organisation and general practice.
  • Providing customer focused comprehensive and pragmatic HR advice and support to GP Practice Managers and employees in line with HR policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • To support the senior HR team in the delivery of the Strategy/Business Plan, in order to meet the organisational goals and objectives such as the People Strategy.
  • To work on specific delegated corporate HR projects in line with the HR strategic plan.
  • To act as a role model within the HR team and within the wider Taurus Team and GP Federation, demonstrating Taurus values at all times.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation including board members and colleagues in general practice.

Main Responsibilities

1. HR Practice & Advice

  • Work with Taurus Managers to improve the standard of HR practice ensuring that best practice is developed in terms of workforce management, development and employee relations for all staff.
  • Ensure effective HR information is provided to the senior HR Team on HR performance measures as required.
  • To advise Taurus Managers in a professional capacity upon employment law, relevant policies and procedures and terms and conditions of employment. In addition, advise upon work performance, maternity, ill health, re-deployment and salary issues.

2. Employee Relations

  • To advise and support managers in a wide range of employment relations issues which may include managing conduct, performance, and sickness, the recruitment and selection of staff, equality and diversity, maternity regulations, harassment and bullying, disciplinary, grievance and dispute issues effectively.
  • To provide clear, consistent and practical advice that is in line with up-to-date and relevant employment law and Taurus policies and procedures.

3. HR Systems and Documentation

  • To assist the senior HR to ensure that appropriate HR systems for all relevant activity are developed, maintained and updated so that all appropriate Employee Relations activity and information is captured in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner in accordance with data protection/GDPR requirements, employment legislation and Taurus policies.

4. Organisational Development, Service Improvement & Change

  • To work with the senior HR team and managers across Taurus and general practice to improve efficiency and performance enabling on-going improvements to be delivered in the quality, service and cost effectiveness of services.
  • To work collaboratively with the senior HR team and colleagues to change and improve services and their efficiency by providing challenge and advice to facilitate delivery of projects which maximise the efficient working of staff and their engagement.

5. Training & Development

  • To work with the senior HR team to plan, prepare and deliver team briefings, or workshops to Taurus Managers & staff on key HR / OD themes (when relevant) e.g. People HR System, Wellbeing Initiatives, Staff Engagement etc.
  • With the Senior HR team, develop a wider development plan for the workforce to further develop their skills.

6. HR Policies

  • To support the senior HR team, to review, update and draft HR as required. Work with Taurus Managers to ensure policies and associated procedures are practical, easily understood and meet employment law and best practice requirements.

Personal Development

  • To complete mandatory training and fire lectures regularly and assist with fire policy/evacuation procedure when necessary.
  • To keep up to date with and attend training on revisions to information systems or changes in protocols for the inputting of data in the light of Local and national initiatives. To adhere to agreed protocols at all times.
  • To participate in the appraisal process on an annual basis and to undertake training and development as identified within these discussions and as indicated by the requirements of the post.

Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance

  • To realise the importance of confidentiality when dealing with patients and staff, particularly when giving or receiving information over the telephone in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations.
  • Maintain the high standards of the service by contributing towards individual, team and service objectives and acting at all times in the best interest of patients.
  • To accurately collect, collate and input data to Information Systems as required by procedures to ensure that patient database records are up to date and accurate.
  • To participate in the Appraisal and Personal Development plans on an annual basis and to undertake training and development as identified within these discussions and as indicated by the requirements of the post.

Information Governance

  • Taurus Healthcare requires its staff to comply with Information Governance related standards and policies at all times when dealing with confidential information, which includes any information relating to the business of the company and its service users and employees.
