Do you want to be part of an exciting team who supports education and training for Primary Care Advancing/Extended practice within General Practice?

HEE Training Hubs lead on innovative approaches to training and development for Primary Care. We support those on the frontline to be able to deliver safe and caring services for patients. We work across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Linking with PCNs and practices to offer workforce planning, staff development and training for all staff. We are commissioned by the NHS via Health Education England.

The ACP/FCP Ambassador role has been developed to support practitioners with advancing and extended practice by providing senior leadership to guide CPD, ensure professional accountability from a governance perspective and act as an expert advisor to the individuals, practices and PCNs. In particular the RoadMaps for AHPs and ACP training/portfolio programs. This role will be supported by our Multi-professional Educators and the wider team.

Main duties of the job

Applicants will be required to maintain clinical practice so undertake this Ambassador role as part of a portfolio role. The Ambassador would be an AHP or Nurse with extended/advanced qualifications.

With the changing face and expanded workforce in Primary Care, the requirement for professional development, support, supervision and mentorship is pivotal for safe patient care. ACPs and FCPs working in autonomous advanced and extended roles will benefit from the networking and development opportunities the Ambassador role will facilitate.

Teaching experience would be an advantage as some direct teaching may be delivered by the post holder. However teaching qualifications or train the trainer programs can be gained in post.

This role requires innovation and creative thinking so the post holder will have supported autonomy in establishing new programs/peer support/activities. Stakeholder engagement will be crucial in enabling training and development for our advanced/extended workforce.

JOB PURPOSE

This will be an exciting new role to oversee the delivery of primary care education for the Enhanced and Advanced clinicians in Primary Care, working closely with a range of educators. In particular the roles that are seeing significant expansion following the introduction of the ARRS roles in primary care of FCP ands ACP.

The role of ACP/FCP Ambassador is to work with and support the Chief Training Hub Officer in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the Health Education England mandate for Training Hubs.

This will deliver an integrated workforce comprising individuals from a spectrum of professional in the enhanced and advanced fields including ACPs, ANPs, FCP Paramedics, FCP Physios, FCP OTs, FCP Dietitians. This is both fully qualified and those completing the ACP Masters or portfolio route and FCPs completing the RoadMap.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities are set out below:

To provide effective clinical leadership, contributing to the strategic development of the Training Hub.

To contribute to the vision of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Primary Care Providers and to enhance patient care by providing direction with respect to the quality of education and training.

To work on behalf of the Training Hub, providing expert advice on specialty-specific matters for advanced and extended practice.

To liaise and build relationships with educators across Primary Care employed both within and externally to the Training Hub for example the ACP educator, PA Ambassador, Pharmacy Ambassador internal to the Training Hub and GP trainers and GPN trainers external to the Training Hub.

To work locally with key groups and stakeholders, to attend and host events across Herefordshire and Worcestershire primary Care Providers, to develop key liaisons and to ensure effective local engagement and responsiveness in line with the culture of HEE.

To work with providers and others to support and capture innovation locally and ensure national and local conversations develop best practice.

To support delivery of the specialty-specific aspects of any Training Hub, through local initiatives and programs in particular those mandated by HEE or NHSE/I for Advanced and Enhanced roles including support RoadMap and ACP credentialling.

To use and support development of the Training Hub educational resources to support Advanced and Enhanced learners across Herefordshire and Worcestershire Primary Care to fulfil their full potential.

To attend Training Hub meetings within the structure and other relevant meetings.

Ensure any training provision/interventions meet Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality Improvement standards

To support compliance with requirements particularly with regard to the supervision and support for trainees and learners.

To create and promote shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional working across Primary Care in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

To develop educational programmes where needed to support achievement of curriculum competencies.

To support the implementation of alternative workforce solutions within the Primary Care setting such as the ARRS roles by acting as an expert advisor for PCNs and practices with Advanced and Extended roles regulatory requirements for practice.

Initiate, lead and develop a professional support network, action learning set or similar, to support continuing professional development for ACPs/FCPs.

Additional requirements:

Ensure that departmental standards of practice are maintained at all times and contribute in a positive manner to the overall development of the communications and engagement team.

The post holder will be required to travel to many other locations, and other organisations, as required, this can be done using own vehicle or public transport.
