The candidate must:
*Meet the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by undertaking the relevant qualification delivered by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - approved provider
*Be registered with the NMC and revalidation undertaken in line with NMC requirements
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities in
relation to delivering health services:
*work as part of the practice clinical team to provide and monitor
care, under direct or indirect supervision
*improve safety and quality of care at every opportunity
*contribute to the delivery of integrated care
*provide support and supervision to Training Nursing Associates,
Healthcare Assistants, Apprentices, and those on learning
assignments/placements as required
*support registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the
more complex clinical care
*perform and record clinical observations such as required
*undertake new patient health checks
*provide wound care, flu vaccinations, ECGs, and venepuncture,
hypertension reviews and other relevant clinical care as required, in line
with the competencies of the role
*perform injections of medications, hormonal treatments, injectable
contraceptives, B12 injections or others as requested by hospital according
to PSD and within boundaries of knowledge and training
*promote health and well-being to all patients
*care for individuals with complex conditions such as dementia,
mental health conditions, and learning disabilities

Much Birch Surgery is a 5 partner, rural dispensing practice at the heart of the community, with a practice list size of 5000 patients. The practice covers an area reaching from the edges of Hereford to Ross on Wye, extending into the villages of the Golden Valley.

Key responsibilities in relation to delivering health services:
- work as part of the practice clinical team to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision
- improve safety and quality of care at every opportunity
- contribute to the delivery of integrated care
- provide support and supervision to Training Nursing Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Apprentices, and those on learning assignments/placements as required
- support registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the more complex clinical care
- perform and record clinical observations such as required

- provide wound care, flu vaccinations, ECGs, and venepuncture, hypertension reviews and other relevant clinical care as required, in line with the competencies of the role

Other tasks including:
- Clean, sterilise and maintain equipment used by clinicians according to infection control policy.
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of Treatment Room being used.
- Ordering of stock
- Participation in administrative systems in the practice
- At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records.
- A duty to advise Lead Nurse of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
- Attend and participate in any practice meetings when required.
- On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits or participate in clinics outside of the practice.
- Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post.
