Herefordshire General Practice, can provide access to a range of salaried or locum, flexible or fixed sessions, in and out of hours. We offer a range of General Practice services, face-to-face and remote sessions, in and out-of-hours and all using the EMIS clinical platform.
Our current services include adhoc in hours work in Herefordshire practices via our flexible GP Pool; Improved Access (routine bookable appointments from hubs across the county); Out of Hours from Hereford city base; Covid Management Service and Virtual GP (both remote services working from home), and Zero tolerance service.
We offer a Herefordshire HR Passport which is one set of pre-employment checks to enable our GPs to work across all Taurus services and to be part of the flexible GP pool offering locum-style support to Herefordshire practices.
Main duties of the job
We offer weekly lunchtime and monthly evening training sessions, online mandatory training and access to Teamnet for all the tools needed to work in Herefordshire, plus flexible access to mentorship and peer support and access to the Training Hub Learning Management system for live events, pre-recorded training and e-learning packages.
For those wishing to work flexibly, accrue your annual leave and have the ease of one employer and one timesheet, (simplicity for tax returns, accountants and NHS pension logistics!) All GPs joining the flexible pool will have access to Herefordshire and Worcestershire Training Hub resources to support their individual CPD requirements. This includes access to the Flexible GP Champions who are able to advise, signpost and offer peer support, including action learning sets, networking sessions and access to coaching and mentoring systems.
Taurus Healthcare is a GP federation. It is owned by all of the General Practices in Herefordshire and is run by them. Established in 2012, we support practices to work together to deliver better and more resilient services for patients locally. This includes delivering clinical services that they wouldnt individually be able to provide.
Our shareholders are all surgeries in Herefordshire and Tenbury we are a private limited company, but we dont pay dividends. Any surplus we make is reinvested into providing improved healthcare for the people of Herefordshire now and in the future. All our staff have access to NHS pensions.

To provide a full general practice service across different settings according to the portfolio role of the GP and the needs of the service.
The post holder will be responsible for seeing patients in an identical manner to regular general practice work, taking responsibility for a patients care and only referring back to their own GP where appropriate, consistent with ensuring every contact counts.
This will involve routine, urgent and telephone appointments, as well as supporting the clinical and administrative teams in the best interests of the patient that supports a patient seeing the right person at the right time in the right place.
The GP is expected to do any referrals required and appropriately prescribe within the Herefordshire guidelines, taking into account the Low Priority Treatment guidance from the CCG.
To assist in development of the service, with incident reporting and suggestions for improvements through the appropriate system.
