The Primary Care Information Lead will play a key role in supporting GP Practices and PCNs with Business Intelligence and helping identify patients in need.

Supporting practices understand and capture their appointment data, the role will assist Practices in meeting appointment targets, not by delivering but by ensuring that the activity and workload within the practices are recorded and captured accurately. This means a better representation of demand and access is extracted by the National General practice Appointment data service.

The post will lead on Primary care reporting and supporting the Practices with Data and analytics under the leadership of the Data and Digital Lead. The role will also support the implementation of a federative services offer.

Directly working with Practices and Clinical Directors to gain a better understanding of the population, General Practice Demand and Capacity and supporting effective and efficient working using data and analytics.

The role will lead on embedding a more data driven culture into Primary Care.

Main duties of the job

• Supporting practices understand and capture their appointment data

• Develop demand and capacity model that can be used by PCNs and Practices

• General Practice Demand and Capacity analysis

• Produce a Business Intelligence workload tool

• Analysis and reporting of the Impact and Investment Fund specifications, specifically accessibility indicators

• EMIS reporting as required

• Use advanced EMIS skills to enhance usage and efficiencies of appointment recording

• Develop and maintain EMIS templates, protocols and concepts along with associated documentation as required

• Maintain working relationships with EMIS Teams across Herefordshire

• Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with PCN procedures

• Provide training to Clinicians and other staff where necessary

• To support and communicate directly with all staff in relation to data quality offering advice and training

JOB PURPOSE

Supporting practices understand and capture their appointment data, the role will assist Practices in meeting appointment targets, not by delivering but by ensuring that the activity and workload within the practices are recorded and captured accurately. An ongoing understanding of demand and capacity will be essential and the post will develop a workload tool that can be extracted from EMIS (and other Practices systems) to give insight on activity and forecasting which will enable Practices to evidence demand and plan capacity.

An element of the role will support with proactive analysis of General practice data to support targeting of interventions carried out by Health & Well-being team, Frailty Team, Care Coordinators, Social Prescribers and others.
