We are currently seeking a Patient Data Officer to join our
practice team. You will be expected to contribute to the smooth running
of the Patient Data Team, processing electronic clinical information and repeat
prescriptions, arranging specialist clinics and supporting our patients to
access appropriate health care services.
Main duties of the job
This is a busy department in a high pressured environment, so the
successful applicant will be focused, hardworking and motivated with excellent
communication skills and a confident personality. Previous experience in an office environment is essential,
previous experience in general practice or health care environment is an
advantage but full training will be given.
Hours are negotiable and can be full or part time, working hours
as follows:
Monday-Friday (inc)
0800 to 1300 or
1300 to 1800 or
0800 to 1800 (with an hour for lunch)
However you will need to be flexible as shifts may be changed to
cover annual leave. Salary will be
dependent upon relevant experience. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS
check.

We have recently merged with a neighbouring practice and our patient list has grown towards 14,000 and a practice team of more than 40 staff working over two site

Job responsibilities
Receive, assist and direct patients in
accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous,
efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice
team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors,
either in person or via the telephone
Job Responsibilities: (as
trained and competent to do so)
- Process
all prescription requests directing to the most appropriate clinician
- Advising
patients and their representatives of the most appropriate ways of
ordering repeat prescriptions
- Scanning
all clinical and patient documentation, work flowing and coding as
appropriate
- All
electronic and paper-based administration pertaining to patients joining
and leaving the practice list including deceased patients
- Re-directing
lab results as appropriate
- Management
of waiting lists for specialist appointments such as baby checks, LARCS
and minor surgery
- Creation
of electronic appointment book for all clinicians and visiting specialists
ensuring patients can book at least a month in advance
- Ensure
plentiful supplies of controlled stationery
- Action
all incoming emails pertinent to role
- Processing
of cervical cytology data
- Processing
of all vaccination recall data
- Cover
in reception during staff leave
Information Technology
- Have
a good working knowledge of relevant areas of clinical systems and other
programmes as appropriate to role.
- Demonstrate
a good working knowledge of the practice policy on information governance.
Team Building
Work effectively within the data Team
and with the wider practice team.
Other Tasks
- Ensure
building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm
- To
actively participate in practice meetings when necessary
- Overtime
covering for colleagues annual leave and sickness will also be required
- Any
other reasonable tasks allocated by managers
