Job summary

Are you passionate about making a difference in patient care through innovative pharmacy services? Crucible Pharmacy Limited (CPL), a dynamic and forward-thinking wholly owned subsidiary of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH), is looking for a new Pharmacy Unit Manager for the Northern General Hospital (NGH) outpatient pharmacy.

Following the acquisition of two stores from Boots, CPL has completed refurbishments at the NGH pharmacy and anticipates the completion of refurbishments at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (RHH) site by July 2024. Complemented by new investments in robotic dispensing systems, CPL is at the forefront of enhancing pharmacy services across STH.

This position is available with a salary of circa £60k pa pro-rata for part time with access to a staff bonus scheme.

To act as Responsible Pharmacist and ensure the safe, efficient and effective delivery of all aspects of the outpatient and discharge pharmacy services at Crucible Pharmacy in accordance with GPhC standards

To have delegated accountability for ordering and management of all medicines at Crucible Pharmacy

To provide leadership and act as a role model for the staff of Crucible Pharmacy

To provide efficient management and administration of the business

To ensure the delivery of a high quality and timely outpatient and discharge service for patients

Co-ordinates and contributes to the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy, which will include clinical checks of prescriptions; advice and information to patients and staff; dispensing of hospital outpatient and discharge prescriptions.

Essential

  • Registered Pharmacist with the GPharm
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Higher Degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate diploma in specialist area

Desirable

  • Registered Independent Prescriber
  • Recognised Management Qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Initiative, time management, pragmatic and resilience
  • Leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong communication skills must be able to recognise and overcome barriers to understanding
  • Excellent interpersonal skills ability to form positive relationships

Experience

Essential

  • Post Registration experience as a Responsible Pharmacist in a community or hospital pharmacy
  • Able to work under pressure in a busy environment
  • NHS Hospital prescribing awareness
  • Decisive decision making
  • Leading a team in a dispensary environment

  • Pharmacy Management Experience in a community store or hospital outpatient setting
