Smile Together Dental CIC is offering an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced and community-minded Dentist to join our team on the stunning Isles of Scilly. As the sole dental provider for the islands, youll deliver high-quality NHS and private care, as well as emergency treatment, to a welcoming and close-knit island community and its visitors.

A GDC-registered (without conditions) Dentist with solid experience in general dentistry and confident in managing urgent care

Job responsibilities

Encouragement and provision of regular dental care for adults and children resident on the islands, treating a target number of patients

Provision of emergency dental care for the residents of and visitors to the islands, ensuring all patients presenting with a dental emergency receive advice and treatment as appropriate within 24 hours of contact either direct or via our Call Centre

Minimising mainland referrals for specialist or generalist dental services

Enhancing the oral health of the island population with particular emphasis on child dental health

Working as part of the whole dental team in the provision and delivery of dental care services to patients and complimentary working with other health professionals on the islands and in Cornwall

Being flexible with duties to ensure the smooth running of the practice and taking ownership of tasks to ensure these are completed in an accurate and timely manner

Providing excellence of service including written clinical detail enabling colleagues to provide face-to-face treatment or other interventions at future appointments

Actively engaging with Smile Together teams and participating in peer review, clinical audit activities, planning and development sessions and in-house meetings. Engaging with the feedback mechanisms for any concerns you raise.

Being responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and reporting accidents, incidents and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure

Maintaining and developing your clinical competency and continuing professional/personal development according to agreed training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy, other external educational providers

Developing a Personal Development Plan as described in the GDC Standards

On occasions you may be required to visit and work from other locations where you would need to integrate as part of the local team

Playing a valuable part in contributing to the success of our organisation
