SALARY: NJC pt. 26 34 £34,834 - £42,403 FTE (pro rated to 60% of a full-time post) dependent upon experience

CONTRACT TYPE: Part time 3 days per week (plus one week learning and development) 21 hours per week

The team provides trauma informed bespoke therapy for children and young people experiencing Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges and associated learning needs. The role includes facilitating individual and group Occupational Therapy, autonomous case management and the development of support packages in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of sensory and physical development and be innovative, passionate and committed to their discipline and continuing professional development. The successful candidate will celebrate neurodiversity and the many strengths and positive aspects that being neurodivergent brings. The ability to work autonomously and yet be able to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team is essential. Applicants should possess excellent organisational and communication skills. Applicants should have post-qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist and have experience of managing a school age caseload. Special Educational Needs experience is not essential but a willingness to learn and understand the complex needs of our children and young people; drive, aspiration and achievement and the ability to promote quality of life most certainly is.

About us

We work with children and young people aged 5-19 across a broad spectrum of social, emotional and mental health challenges and use our knowledge, experience and expertise to help them become the best they can be. Common diagnoses and learner profiles amongst our students include ADHD, PDA, FASD, ASC, Trauma and Attachment Disorder. William Henry Smith is based over two sites.

We are proud to have received anOfsted judgement of Outstandingin all areas across the school (September 2023) and have been Ofsted Outstanding for 19 consecutive inspections.

We primarily offer Day and Residential Education/Care to boys over four nights a week from our school in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, although we can also accommodate flexible Extended Day placements and bespoke learning pathways in our specialist environment. We provide a 24 hour, integrated curriculum with sensory strategies, communication interventions, exceptional therapeutic services and family outreach.Improving Quality of Life underpins all our work.

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
  • Recognised degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy

Desirable

  • Completed advanced training/post qualification training

Experience

  • Experience in the field of Occupational Therapy working with and managing a school age caseload.
