Mental Health & Wellbeing Nurse

Job responsibilities

We are seeking a highly professional, enthusiastic, and flexible person with outstanding interpersonal skills who shares our passion and commitment in prioritising mental health and wellbeing for pupils.

Main purpose of the role

Ensure the wellbeing of pupils, making sure their mental, physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Assessing a variety of acute and complex mental health issues

Providing mental health support and intervention, when necessary, referring to more specialist services

Producing Individual Health Care Plans (where mental health in concerned), as required, in liaison with parents and external specialist professionals for pupils with mental health conditions.

Hours of the role - 27.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9.30am-3.30pm, term-time only -36 weeks per year

Registered Mental Health Nurse

Current Nurse NMC registration

A full-time equivalent salary of £39,724 per annum - Actual salary £23,620 per annum

• Current Nurse NMC registration

• Experience of dealing with mental health difficulties (ideally in children and young people)
• Knowledge of safeguarding
• Ambitious to develop as a school based Mental Health and Wellbeing nurse with an extended range of competencies and willingness to acquire new skills
• Willingness to work flexibly
• Excellent organisational skills
• Proactive in own professional development.
• Basic computer skills.

Desirable

• Desirable:
• Degree level nursing qualification
• First aid trained or willing to undertake training of paediatric first aid
• A recognised, accredited and relevant counselling qualification e.g. CPCAB, BACP, BPS and/or qualifications in psychotherapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, Psychodynamic/Person Centred
• Desirable:
• Experience of working in a school or with young people
