Job summary
We
are recruiting to a course tutor position to support expansion in commissioned
training numbers on the DClinPsych programme.
The Plymouth Clinical Psychology programme has been providing high-quality clinical psychology training in the South West for the past 40 years and was the first programme to adopt a doctoral training model. The programme is committed to values-based practice; working with compassion, courage and creativity, in partnership with service users and communities to promote social inclusion, diversity, equality and health for all. The programme has longstanding strengths in systemic approaches and is currently working towards BABCP accreditation in CBT, we also have a flourishing programme of community psychology placements.
The programme benefits from being part of the School of Psychology within a large Faculty of Health which also provides medical, dental, general, and mental health nursing, social work, and seven different allied health professions training. The University recently created a centre to facilitate interprofessional learning across the Faculty.
Main duties of the job
You will primarily be involved in the teaching aspect of the programme and plays a crucial role in planning and supporting the delivery of our curriculum across the three years of the programme, including curriculum planning, timetabling, and monitoring quality of delivery. You will be a year group tutor for one of the three years of the programme.
Contribution to other aspects of programme delivery will also include teaching, assessment, marking, and research supervision. There may also be opportunities to contribute to teaching and research within the broader school.
A
proportion of the role can be undertaken through home working, and regular team
meetings are held remotely. However, teaching sessions are generally in-person
and there is a requirement to attend in-person meetings, and events, such as
selection.

Essential
- Experience of delivering high quality research led teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
- Contributed successfully to research projects, grant applications and developing collaborative research networks
- Ability to demonstrate enhancement to the learning experience through flexible delivery, and pedagogic innovation including the use of digital media, as appropriate to meet the diverse needs of students
Desirable
- Contributed to quality assurance activities (such as approval, periodic review, student complaints)
- Previous experience of clinical psychology training is desirable but certainly not necessary, applications from recently qualified psychologists are also welcome
Qualifications

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent international qualification
- Recognised HE teaching qualification or appropriate HEA fellowship or the ability to gain this within a defined timescale, usually within 2 years from the date of appointment is essential
