Job summary
As a specialist in Dental Radiography, the role holder will
proactively contribute creative and innovative solutions to enable and deliver effective teaching in
Dental Radiography. They will train staff, students or other colleagues in Dental Radiography,
ensuring teaching reflects current best practice, and providing professional expertise.
Main duties of the job
Use specialist skill and experience to provide services, guidance, troubleshooting, support
and training to other staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Apply professional expertise in the design and delivery of stimulating learning solutions for
Dental Radiography within the School.
Provide technical input into specialist purchases, liaising with relevant contacts and suppliers
to ensure fit for purpose solutions and cost effectiveness.
Undertake quality assurance procedures on specialist radiographic equipment.
Writing risk assessments and method statements/standard operating procedures (SOPs), or
providing guidance to service users, ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines.
Use of expert knowledge to implement and review local rules, University Health & Safety
policies and legislative requirements; set and uphold standards, e.g. safe working, good
working practices, relevant legal frameworks.
Promote high standards in dental radiographic imaging, radiation protection, infection
control, information governance and patient care.
Contribute to suggestions for examination and assessment as part of wider assessment using
radiography specialist knowledge, particular areas related to IRMER and radiation safety.
Responsible for day to day management of specialist teaching resources or facilities.
