Job summary
This
is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we prepare to move into
our brand-new clinical facility. The role holder will play a key leadership
role within the School; specifically providing leadership and vision in
orthodontic teaching.
Main duties of the job
We
are seeking an outstanding clinical academic to lead teaching in Restorative
Dentistry or one of the monospecialties (endodontics, prosthodontics,
periodontics) and, where appropriate, research at Bristol Dental School. The
role holder will contribute to our developing undergraduate and postgraduate curricula,
deliver contemporary, evidence-based Restorative Dentistry teaching, and
contribute to the wider leadership and management of our School.
About us
Bristol Dental School is responsible for
research and the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes
in Dentistry. Teaching takes place between the University precinct and at the
University of Bristol Dental Hospital (UBDH) and School. From 2023 the majority
of primary care dental undergraduate placements will take place in a new
state-of-the-art clinical facility in the centre of Bristol. This marks a significant
departure from the traditional model of dental training and has come with unprecedented
investment from the University of Bristol. The change to the operating model
allows for a strong focus on clinical education at this new site, whilst
enabling dental undergraduates to interact with specialist services at UBDH at
the appropriate stage in the curriculum. We are maintaining strong links with
UBDH and have a shared ambition to develop and expand the postgraduate
portfolio. We also intend the new model to facilitate expanded research
opportunities in population oral health and health services research, including
primary care, as well as our strengths in microbiology and materials.
