Job summary
An exciting secondment opportunity has become available within the Nursing Team at Sheffield Hallam University. This is a full-time post (fractional posts will be considered) to support the delivery of Learning disability and Social Work teaching within the undergraduate nursing programmes. The secondment would start on a date negotiable between the individual, their organisation and Sheffield Hallam University and continue until January 2026. The School of Health and Social Care is one of the largest providers of nursing education in the UK and you will be working with a vibrant community of academics, practitioners and researchers with a commitment to providing high quality, research-informed teaching, to ensure active learning.
You will join a team of academic practitioners, innovating, teaching and supporting student nurses across the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. You will also support a range of post-registration teaching to registrants accessing our CPD portfolio, alongside opportunities to be involved in research and project work. You will be involved with supporting students, linking with our practice partners, and engaging with the research agenda.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated registered nurse from Learning Disability and Social Work, who is considering further development/ experience in a nursing education setting. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your skills to deliver high quality education.
Main duties of the job
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- The ability to design and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences.
- Knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to Learning disability nursing and the health and social care agenda.
- Experience of teaching, training or supervising undergraduate and postgraduate nursing or other healthcare professionals in a practice or academic environment.
- Current NMC registration as a Learning Disability Nurse and current SWE registration (Social Work). We will consider applicants with only Learning Disability nursing registration, or registered Social Workers with Learning disability experience
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Have the support of their line manager/employing organisation to be seconded to SHU until January 2026 on a full or part time basis.
