Job summary

We are seeking a Lecturer in Dietetics to join our team!

The Department of Allied Health Professions (AHP) is one of the UKs leading teaching centres of health education and one of the first universities to offer Allied Health Professions Degree Apprenticeship Courses.

We are growing our dietetics team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio. Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of dietetics and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the pre-registration MSc Dietetics and BSc (Hons) Degree Apprenticeship and supports Advanced Clinical Practice for dietitians in person and via the e-portfolio route. In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching, including the inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.

This opportunity would ideally suit an experienced Band 6 dietitian or above working in the NHS (or equivalent) that has expertise in teaching, training, and supervision. This post is suited to working alongside a 0.5FTE Clinical role.

Main duties of the job

You'll be involved in supporting the delivery of our dietetics courses & inter-professional teaching. We are looking for individuals who can inspire our students & make a valuable contribution to their learning experience & academic progression whilst preparing them for practice. Alongside this is the opportunity to further your own clinical academic profile & enhance teaching expertise, accessing a PG Cert in HE Teaching & Learning.

You must be an HCPC registered dietitian & have current knowledge & understanding of critical, practical & theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice. We ideally seek to employ a candidate who is at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS in either primary or secondary settings demonstrating care innovation & emergent clinical pathways. The Team is currently developing workstreams in respect of curriculum structures, apprenticeship delivery & placement simulation & innovation. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to our AHP Health and Social Care Research Centre with a focus on long term conditions. It is envisaged that successful candidates would be part of these innovations, shaping dietetic education in higher education whilst retaining strong links with practice partners.

The role also requires contribution to our pre-registration apprenticeship courses through teaching, assessing & academic citizenship/research activity. The ability to inspire, enthuse & connect with a range of backgrounds is required.
