Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a Lecturer Practitioner with the vision, commitment, academic ambition and capacity to contribute to the delivery of Physician Associate education. In addition as a clinician from an appropriate discipline (Physician Associate, Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Health or a doctor) you would be responsible for developing and teaching healthcare students across the medical school and college.

Programme, which has been running successfully for several years, is now part of the Three Counties Medical School, aligning the GMC regulated programmes. Based in our state-of-the-art purpose-built healthcare campus, you will be utilising innovative teaching methodologies and working as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the educational needs of our students, alongside other healthcare academic and clinical academic staff in the Medical School and wider College of Health and Science.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Responsible for the design and delivery of teaching material across a range of modules, contributing to curriculum development of both MSc PA and MBChB programmes as directed.

2. Deliver theoretical teaching, practical sessions and related activities drawing on your clinical area of expertise. You will have specific MSc PA module teaching responsibilities and with experience take on module leadership.

3. Contribute to the development of activities relating to professional practice, including but not limited to clinical skills, simulation and application of theory.

4. To act as a Personal Academic Tutor for PA students and undertake tutorial responsibilities, including maintaining records, for a group and / or individual students.

5. To contribute to the assessment process for all students including the setting, marking and moderation of work, individually or collectively as part of a team in accordance with quality assurance procedures.

6. To supervise dissertation work as appropriate.

7. To carry out academic administrative work and participate in relevant committees within the School and University.

8. To participate in annual staff development and review processes.

9. To take part in outreach activities and selection of applicants for the course.

10. To participate fully in the life of the School, College and University, by engaging in representational and ambassadorial activities in support of the School's activities and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Head of School.

11. Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job; participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.

12. Take steps to ensure and enhance personal health, safety, and well-being and that of other staff and students.

  • Minimum of two years post-qualification experience as a Physician Associate or alternative healthcare qualification.
