Job summary

GMTH are seeking to appoint a Practice Education Facilitator to work across Greater Manchester with a focus on Manchester, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop Locality Training Hub activity.

This job is offered on a full time basis, however, we would be happy to consider part time hours and/or job share. The role is offered at a band 6 equivalent, as a development opportunity, however, where a candidate can demonstrate extensive relevant experience, we would consider offering this role at a higher pay scale.

This post would suit a highly motivated and innovative individual with an ability to influence, engage and challenge with integrity and credibility.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Act as an expert resource/ champion of learning and education to support placement providers.

Share best practice relating to Quality Assurance and inter-professional learning across placement providers.

Produce regular progress reports to inform Learning and Development Agreement monitoring.

Support the data collection process for student placements to be reported back to HEE

Attend and participate in meetings across GM, representing the Training Hub as necessary and deputizing for the lead PEF

Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with organizational policies.

Support practice learning environment leads and practice supervisors and assessors to carry out educational audits and become accredited learning environments

Increase capacity of student nurses and other allied health care professionals across primary care

Undertake research and development relevant to education in practice and the clinical learning environment.

Assess the quality of learning environments against quality assurance standards, suggesting improvement measures to enhance the student learning experience.

Support educators / practice supervisors and assessors in complex decisions relating to the student experience including the achievement of learning outcomes, competence and fitness for practice.

Plan and implement development programmes and assessment processes for all healthcare students with educational institutions

Maintain current learning environment capacity by supporting practice supervisors/assessors and maintaining contact when workforce changes occur

Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for educators/ practice supervisors and staff in relation to education in practice. Communicate changes in curriculum or programmes as required.

Leadership

Contribute to maintaining and improving own professional knowledge and competence, and that of educators / practice supervisors and assessors in practice.

Participate in an annual, collaborative appraisal process to enable achievement of objectives and management of learning needs.

Manage own workload independently and prioritise as required.

Participate in clinical supervision/ professional mentoring and coaching.

Responsibilities for Teaching and Training

Plan, design and deliver structured sessions for SSSA training across primary care for the whole multi-professional team

Identify and support practice supervisors who want to become practice assessors through formal and informal methods of support

Contribute to the Training Hub placement pathway, acting as an integral part of the placement team and contributing as a practice assessor as required

Design, deliver and evaluate training sessions for all student learners allocated to primary care, using innovative ways to deliver teaching and inter-professional learning.

Provide training to primary care staff on behalf of GMTH using skills within own area of expertise.

Development and Innovation

Identify outcomes of inter-professional learning in order to facilitate the breadth of the student experience, and evaluate the effectiveness of any change.

Promote placement expansion and capacity by engaging fully in GM wide processes including the EELE project and GM Synergy

Promote Primary Care Networks as a placement, working with the lead PEF to integrate this within the local training hub

Contribute to Health Education North Wests wider engagement framework in the delivery of defined clinical placement initiatives.

Network locally, regionally and nationally with peer group to support the sharing of best practice.
