The Manchester, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop Local Training Hub (MSTG LTH), part of the Greater Manchester Training Hub is developing an excellent clinical education team to deliver education and workforce transformation across three Greater Manchester localities.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a Practice Education Facilitator to join the team and support the advancement of the local training hub in delivering workforce development, training and education in localities, primary care networks and GP practices and providers. We are looking for an existing and experienced PEF who can bring the necessary expertise to a primary care setting.

About us

This is a great opportunity to join a small team dedicated to delivering high quality education across Greater Manchester. The purpose of this post is to provide a lead role in the delivery of non-medical workforce placements across the Board involving a range of staff from pre-registration students through to post-graduate studies.

We are looking for a qualified PEF with excellent leadership, management, communication and organisational skills.

The post holder will have an active role in the delivery and review of essential student training to ensure staff and students are trained to provide safe and effective care for patients while meeting professional standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communications

Develop the knowledge and skills to act as an expert resource/ Champion of Inter-professional Learning with Placement Providers.

Communicate educational and practice information across placement providers and educational Institutions.

Communicate effectively and appropriately between internal & external partners.

Share best practice relating to Quality Assurance and Inter-professional Learning across placement providers.

Produce a 6 monthly progress report to inform Learning and Development and Agreement monitoring.

Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with organizational policies.

Service Improvement

Ensure that academic rigor in practice learning is maintained, that learning outcomes can be met, and are aligned with service reconfigurations.

Contribute to multi professional quality assurance monitoring of education in practice within own organization, Quality Assurance systems which are aligned with the learning and development agreement process in partnership with Education providers. and across organizational boundaries aligned with the Learning and Development Agreement process, and with Quality Assurance systems in partnership with Education Providers.

Continuously monitor practice learning activities against quality assurance standards enabling ongoing enhancement of the learning experience.

Support clinical educators/ practice supervisors and assessors to perform educational audits/ self- assessments, and support mentors/ practice supervisors and assessors in the delivery of education action plans.

Undertake research and development relevant to education in practice and the clinical learning environment.

Assess the quality of learning environments against quality assurance standards, suggesting improvement measures to enhance the student learning experience.

Support clinical educators, practice supervisors and assessors in complex decisions relating to the student experience including the achievement of learning outcomes, competence and fitness for practice.

Plan and implement development programmes and assessment processes for all healthcare students with HEIs.

Identify shortfalls in supervision and practice education to inform commissioning intentions, and facilitate access to multiprofessional practice supervision programmes/ updates and training opportunities.

Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for clinical educators/ practice supervisors and staff in relation to education in practice.

Leadership

Contribute to maintaining and improving own professional knowledge and competence, and that of clinical educators, practice supervisors and assessors in practice.

Participate in an annual, collaborative appraisal process to enable achievement of objectives and management of learning needs.

Manage own workload independently and prioritizing as required.

Participate in clinical supervision/ professional mentoring and coaching.

Responsibilities for Teaching and Training

Plan, design and deliver structured inter-professional learning in practice for healthcare students and clinical educators, practice supervisors and assessors.

Contribute to the planning, delivery and review of multi-professional development programmes for clinical educator, practice supervisors in order to meet the learning needs of different professional groups, and to ensure that the facilitation of interprofessional learning outcomes is included.

Identify opportunities where multiprofessional mentorship and practice supervision can be facilitated in practice as a foundation for interprofessional learning to take place.

Produce and maintain a portfolio of education in practice activity within service area(s).

Develop, implement and review education in the clinical and other practice learning environments in line with educational policy

Development and Innovation

Identify outcomes of interprofessional learning in order to facilitate the breadth of the student experience, and evaluate the effectiveness of any change.

Contribute to the development of agreed core outcomes of placement allocation and management.

Contribute to Health Education North Wests wider engagement framework in the delivery of defined clinical placement initiatives.
